I have been 13 times to Disney. I have a friend who will b taking her 2 boys (4 and 5) for the first time in April.. Where would've the best deluxe resort for first timers?

The first (and only) deluxe resort we stayed at (but visited others) was Polynesian and we loved it. I would highly recommend it, especially with the age of your friend's kids. Great location with easy access to MK and Epcot and a very nice theme and pool. I would not recommend Grand Floridian or Yacht Club, which seem stuffy to us. Other option might be the Beach Club with its great pool.

kids that age???..........CR or Poly for trans and MK access and fireworks...firsttime for me would be CR(tower MK view) !!!! Chef Mickeys, monorail inside, view of kingdom,etc......

They wont appreciate GF. Poly was our first kids experience.......ANY deluxe on the mono is the ticket !!!!!!! Poly has the best pool for kids of the 3 monorail resorts . Kids didnt like all the walking at Poly when they were little. If i could still afford a week at POLY i would still be going there...

I would say Contemporary or Poly -- the two iconic Magic Kingdom resorts.

We stayed at the Contemporary for my son's first trip, which was over his 5th birthday. We had dinner at Chef Mickey's on our arrival night, which instantly got us all in the "Disney" mood. And he LOVED seeing the monorail going right through the middle of the hotel. TPV would be ideal. We had a Bay Lake view, but were CL, so we were able to watch Wishes from the lounge. Plus, it's such a convenient location; it makes coming back to the resort for naps/breaks really easy.

Poly is another great option. The kids would probably love the volcano pool & they could watch Wishes from the beach. And the tropical atmosphere makes it like a vacation within a vacation.

Either would make for a magical first trip. :goodvibes

IMHO, if $$$ is not an issue, I would stay at BLT or Contemporay with MK view. Being able to see the MK, watching Wishes and the monorail from your room is priceless for your kids age. Warning, you just might spoil them! Our 3yr old loved it and is still talking about it a year later! The quick walk to and from the MK is amazing. It's great for taking a break from the MK, avoiding the heat and getting a nap. My wife insists on staying at BLT w/MK view from now on!:lmao:

I think the Poly would be a good choice :). The tropical atmosphere is great, the volcano pool is alot of fun, and the beach would be fun for the kids while they watch the fireworks. Plus being on the monorail makes it's quick and convenient for getting to MK :goodvibes.

I agree that CR would be a great choice! One thing that I would like to add that I liked about staying at CR was that I could walk to and from MK. It definitely helped when the monorail was crowded and the line for the monorail was super long.

Depends on how much they want to spend. I'm guessing with kids that age for a first trip they will be spending a lot of time in the Magic Kingdom. My first choice for them would be the Poly. Having the TTC next door to grab an express monorail to either MK or Epcot can't be beat. I think the themeing will probably appeal to the boys too. If they don't want to pay Poly prices, I would say Wilderness Lodge. The boat ride to the MK is nice and it is a beautiful place that again might appeal to the boys. We stayed both places and love them both.

I would go with the Contemporary or Boardwalk Inn, so between those two locations your friend can't go wrong.

With the Contemporary she will have the walkway to the Magic Kingdom, Resort Monorail access and the Contemporary rooms are among the biggest of the Deluxe Resorts.

With the Boardwalk Inn they have a great theme, atmosphere, night life and walkways to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

With the ages of the kids, I would pick a resort closest to the Magic Kingdom. We've stayed at both the Contemporary and the Polynesian. We won't go back to the Contemporary (don't care for the theme, the pool, the staff); we would go back to the Poly in a heartbeat. We had a great room, loved the theme of the resort, the pool, had extremely friendly staff and loved watching Wishes fro the beach. We've not stayed at the GF or WL as neither of them appeal to us in any way. Therefore, my vote is for the Poly.

My boss and family recently stayed at WL and just loved it. Their DS4 enjoyed the boat ride back and forth to the MK. The price was better than the Poly or CR.
