:welcome: Jean. I don't know where to start. There are so many unique things about FW. I would not want to miss....

1- The campfire program. Roast marshmellows and sing along to some Americana favorites. Then stick around for the evening movie playing on the big screen. Bring a blanket or cushion to sit on, the bleachers get hard after awhile.

2- Fireworks from MK. Go down to the beach and watch the fireworks. You can also see the Electric Water Pagent so by. Check the paperwork they give you at check in for the times that time of year.

3- Walk the 1 mile wooded trail over to the Wilderness Lodge. It's peaceful and you feel so far removed from everyone else. You could have lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe (Make a reservation) or grab a quick bite at Roaring Forks. Then bring the boat back to FW for a different perspective.

4- Rent a golf cart for at least one day and go "looping". It's so fun to check out all of the campsite set ups.

5-Check out the Hoop Dee Doo Review at Pioneer Hall. It's pricey, but fun for the whole family. Cheesy jokes and music, very good backyard style food.

6- There are planned activities everyday, usually around the meadows. Dodgeball, pool games, etc. Dodgeball was the favorite of my family. By the end of the game, it was just the dads left.

7- Rent a kayak and explore the canals.

8- Get a cold beverage and rock for a while on the Trail's End porch. It's a great spot for people watching. Be sure to post a picture of your family and post in on the "T.E porch" thread.

petting zoo, campfire, water parade, fire works, don't forget a golf cart it makes it that much better. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info - I've added it to my 4x6 cards of stuff we have to do whilst at WDW!

On nights when the MK has a special ticketed event such as MVMCP or P&PP you will be able to see fireworks at two different times. We will generally watch both. The fireworks for the ticketed events are different from wishes.

If it's is your first trip and if less than 14 days you won't do everything much less what the Fort has to offer. If available I would pick like two FW specific events, if you have kids older than around 8 then the Hoop-De-Doo is good but pricey and the campfire is nice and the Water Pageant is free.

I'm probably going to go against a lot of folks here, cause most seem cart crazy but, if you have the room do bring bicycles. Very simple, I'm a bicycle guy. Bicycles at the Fort are a slow, simple and fun way to check out all the area has to offer. Ride the loops, to the Marina, or to the Lodge. If you have kids and they are old enough, send them out for a ride while you relax at the site or on the T.E. Porch. Its also easier to get somewhere relatively quick rather than waiting on the bus.

I'm with you on the bike issue. Early morning bike rides are my thing at the Fort. Many deer to be seen close up on the trail to WL early in the AM.

We take bikes and our cart. Both have a place

OK, I'm a bicycle newbie. We're taking the bicycles down this weekend, and I'm nervous. I mean, I'm a BEGINNER, ya know?? I have questions.

Do you ride them on the roads, or on the sidewalks? Where do you put them when you get on the buses?
Will my butt look big on that teeny little seat??
Do I *have* to make right hand turns? I'm not good at them yet. Left's OK... right ain't.
Will I look silly in my helmet, knee pads and elbow protectors??

If you see me, please don't point and laugh.

Ok, I think you are way overthinking this, lol. We rode our bikes on the road because I don't think you are supposed to ride on the sidewalks. I did not make hand signals. I stopped at each stop sign and allowed cars to go ahead of me. I do not wear a helmet or pads (it's amazing I survived my childhood  ). I do make my son where a helmet though. The girls are almost 12 and 14 now and would never ride their bikes if I made them where helmets. I would make an acception though if we were riding along side cars in heavy traffic. I don't worry about them at campgrounds though too much. They know how to watch for traffic.

I don't think you can bring your bikes on the buses. That would be very cool though...I'd love exploring other resorts with my bike.

We ride our bikes on the road and if nobody's on the sidewalk we ride there when buses and campers come behind us. Be careful behind the Meadow's Post on the sharp corner.

I think the biggest thing we did wrong on our 1st trip was trying to do too much in too little time. I think you would need 1 day at the FW for every day in the parks. This gives you time to explore and enjoy, which we lacked!! There is so much to do.
Have fun!

We generally stay 2 weeks. 1 day in the park then 1 day of doing nothing 1 day in the park then 1 day of nothing and thats our trip but sometimes on those days of doing nothing we still end up at MK just walking around.
