First Timer Resort Advice for Five: 3 Adults / 2 Kids

Phew! Thanks!

Since Poly DVC is only studios and still doesn't give us separate sleeping areas, just an extra half bath, renting points there is probably off the table. Could squeeze in a rack room for less and have the option to cancel, etc. Currently now considering renting points for a 2BR Villa at either BLT or BCV through one to the two above brokers.

I would get a one or two bedroom villa at BLT. There are two bathrooms in the one bedroom and three bathrooms in the two bedroom. It is close to MK, has monorail access for MK and Epcot, has castle and fireworks views, a full kitchen and washer/dryer, jetted tub, has a community hall to spread out at with the kids, and the pool areas (can use BLT and CR pools) are nice. Some people say it isn't themed but to me, the theme IS Disney- the castle can be seen from many places, artwork in the rooms are of MK, there is Mickey shapes in the hallway carpet, etc.

I always look for the discounts. They may not add up to the savings renting can give you but they work for us.

Thank you. My assumption is I may not have discounts available during spring break week, but I could be wrong? My only fear, is missing out of the prime DVC point rental, awaiting deals, and then they don't happen.

Historically, do they offer discounts in mid march?

We will be headed to Disney for our first trip March 2019 for Spring Break. We will have five in our group: Me, Mom, Mother-in-law, 7 year old daughter (turning 8 while there) and 3.5 year old son.

I am really torn on where to stay. We are not typical "Disney People" per say, so I don't see us traveling here annually, more like two or three times total in our kids lives, so I'm ok splurging a little on this.

Due to needing space for 5, with three of them being adults, I'm looking for: Space (ideally three separate bed options), convenience to parks (will likely be an even split among parks: 2MK, and 1 each at Epcot, HS and AK.), a great pool area for kids and extras (like allowing us to see fireworks from our hotel, or a walkable/monorail option to a park.).

Based on this criteria, I am considering these options from what I have learned here and would love feedback:
  • Finding Nemo Family Suite at AoA (Pros: Price, Theming, Pool, Space of Suite. Con: Location/Long Bus Rides, only one food option)
  • Polynesian (Pro: Location for MK, Monorail, Boats, Pool, Beach, Restaurants, Beauty. Con: Price! Can be crowded with off resorts visitors)
  • Beach Club or Yacht Club (Pro: Walkable location for Epcot/HS, boats, Pool!, food options. Con: Potentially Price. Further from MK. Would want a full balcony for sure).
  • Wilderness Lodge (Pro: Location for MK, boat to MK, Pool, food options, beauty, less crowded. Con: Potentially Price, but like that its the cheapest deluxe. Rooms are smaller/no separate third sleep area...I think.).
  • Animal Kingdom Lodge (Pro: Theming/Animals! Kids would love the view/unique savannah experience, Beauty, Pool. Con: Far from every park except AK.)
I would rent point from a DVC and stay at Old Key West. Has the biggest room which will be good for your family size. People on the Disboards sell their points when they can't use it, and it's cheaper than paying the resort directly.

Oh gosh, I have never noticed. With all the opening lands I am not sure what or when discounts will be available. Go to Davids and just price out your trip, andthen look on the website and price rooms without a discount . I always want to know what rack rate is so I can make reasonable comparisons. I have never not had a discount, however I never have traveled in March.

Check mousesavers.com for historical discounts.

Port Orleans Riverside is a good option. The room will accommodate 5. They have the slide out trundle bed for the younger travelers. We have stayed there several times and have enjoyed the experience. One of the best food courts on property too!
