Looking for a little help. My family has been planning a trip to Disney for almost 2 years now. So for birthdays christmas and everything else family and friends have been giving us and my kids disney money. I thought (incorrectly I guess) that we would be able to use the money on just about anything, such as our hopper passes. Now I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old with $200 in Disney money each. I'll hardly be allowing $200 of crap on the plane and back in my house. Can I use it on anything useful, like the hotel (staying in Disney) or food (in Disney of course)....I hope, but I am having a sinking feeling I have been taken on this one.

thanks for the info.

Unless the rules have changed very very recently (and I have not heard anything to that effect), you can use Disney Dollars for anything while at WDW, including your passes. We've used them for food frequently.

theirish68: At WDW, Disney Dollars are legal tender....They are the SAME as cash.

I have even heard of people using Disney Dollars to pay for their hotel at WDW. I am not aware of any restrictions on them.

even food would be a huge budget help. i called the 3 local disney stores and got the same canned answer. Disney has cracked down and is not allowing you to purches the hopper passes with disney money. do you think you can use it on the resorts? but like i said, even the food would be very helpful.

thanks for the reply.

We've even been able to get some of the CMs at stores to exchange them for actual U.S. Greenbacks. (We did this just to see if we could ;) )

You shouldn't have any trouble getting rid of a feww hundred bucks worth on meals, snacks, park tickets, a day at Disney Quest or a Water Park. No problem.

Are you trying to buy your passes at the Disney Store? That's what it sounds like to me. When you are at Disney World, you can use Disney Dollars for ANYTHING while you are on property. Just buy your tickets when you get there.

Yes, you can use Disney Dollars everywhere within Disney World or Disneyland...that includes onsite resorts, restaurants, kiosks, shops, wherever. It can also be used for ticket media. $200 may sound like a lot in WDW, but really it isn't depending on what it is spent on. We found when our dd had her $100 when we went, that she was extremely careful about what she spent it on...in fact, she still had over half of it left when we came home. It never expires, so it can still be used many years from now. Disney Dollars can also be used at the Disney Stores at home, but cannot be traded back in for cash.

I think it is wonderful that your kids have their own spending money, and what a learning experience for them to decide how to budget it... like school on vacation!!!!

Trust me on this one. As a father of two boys (3 & 6), the least of your worries at WDW will be what to do with a few hundred dollars of Mickey Money. We typically spend 3-400 dollars on character meals in a week. Don't worry, by happy.

thanks for all the great info.... I wasn't worried about my household of women (sorry had to say it) spending 200 - 300 dollars each, my concern was more being able to use it to keep my budget down on manditory things like rooms, meals and tickets. but i am pretty comfortable after all the great replies that I can use some of it for the resort and meals. thanks for all the great replies, we are still 6months away, but since we haven't been there since our honeymoon (8 years ago) and it being my childrens first visit, you can imagine we are all getting excited.

thanks again. I know where to turn to if I have any other questions. this is a great board. I am already going to call up and make sure our CR room is in Martinique.... thanks for that too.
