Me, my husband and two kids (girl-almost 4/ boy age 8) are going for our first trip in early October 2014. We have 6 day base tickets and are staying at CR. I am trying to decide how many day I should spend at each park. I am sure that there will be differing opinions on this but as a first timer, I appreciate the advice :)

Day1 (only a few hours due to arrival) - MK
2 days at MK
2 days at Epcot (although we will not likely stay full days )
1 day at HS

We are thinking about skipping AK and wait to do that when the kids get older when we hopefully can come back in a few years.
Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Only a suggestion, but here's what I would do....

Arrival day MK for a few hours
1 full day at each of the parks -- MK, AK, HS, EP

Then decide which one you want to go back to for your last day! I wouldn't plan on skipping AK. There's a lot there that your kids would probably love. This plan would give you at least 1 1/2 days at MK and then possibly a second full one--or you may decide another park is better for your family to spend a second day at.

We have a 6 day ticket for our upcoming trip (me, DH, dd6, ds1) and we are doing 3 days Mk, 1 day at each of the other parks. We have been once before as a family, so we know a few things we really want and don't want. Ak really has a lot to offer in terms of shows and entertainment and can appeal to all ages.

If I were to skip one for that age it would be HS not AK. But you should be able to get all 4
