First Timer-- OKW Questions

I'm trying to sort out the best resort options for a trip that I am taking with my sister and brother-in-law in January. While crunching numbers, the thought of splitting between an OKW studio and another resort came up. What we would want to do is do the OKW from Sunday 1/1/06 until Thursday 1/5/06 and switch for Friday and Saturday to AKL. Since it is adventure season if my math is right, that would only be 40 points. We would be renting the points. The question I have is whether any of you have a sense of how hard it would be to start a reservation on New Year's Day? Is there any difference depending on whether you rent points v. others who are using points?

Also, I would appreciate if someone who has rented points in the past could please PM me, I have some basic questions about the process.

and yes your calculation is correct. 40 points for a studio at OKw starting Jan 1, 2006 for 5 nights.

can't help with the crowds - work won't allow me to go in Jan or Feb - year end stuff.
