Wondering if anyone can help me...I am trying to plan a trip to Disney for 3 adults and 3 kids (one being 2 years old)..Do I need to get two rooms? We want to stay at a disney resort but dont want to break the bank to do it..
Also, does anyone know of any good flights? Do most people fly right out of Halifax or go to the states to fly out? can someone point me in the right direction, please!

And not sure if it matters but we will be going after Oct 9th for a week so the discount airline out of Bangor doesnt help us

I would check prices and schedules for both Halifax and Maine and then decide if the drive is worth it. We live in Toronto but almost always fly out of Buffalo because the TAX makes it ridiculous to fly out of Toronto. I would check the availability and price of a family suite at the POP CENTURY and compare it to getting two rooms next to one another. If you don't mind staying offsite Cypress Pointe Resort is very nice and a two bedroom, two bathroom condo is about $96.00 a night thru Hotel Kingdom .com
Good Luck with your planning

My advise is to stay at Disney Resort. There are so many advantages... magical express, magical hours, dining plan if you use.. more "Disney time"

Here are some examples of room rates:

Low/HI/HOLIDAY SEASONS
164 238 258 Value (2 rm adjoining)
179 265 285 ASM Suites

Value rooms run form 82 - 129 depending on season vs value suites which are from 179 - 285 a night.

For sq footage, ASM is basically 2 value rooms ( 260 sf x 2 = 520 sf ) but layout may be worth the extra 15-17 a day as it has separate master room with queen bed, 2 bathrooms and 2 x 27" tvs. ... great if you plan/need to spend time in rooms. If you can get adjoining rooms in value with one king and 2 doubles that is the same really.

You should look at this site and http://www.allearsnet.com/ thoroughly and see the benefits. If you want time on site then stay on site .

BTW ... we are in Halifax too, but we use airmiles to fly so really can't be much help unless you are using them too. We stayed on site the first time and are heading back in September to stay on site again... we got the free dining plan and it is costing us about $3800.00 to stay in a moderate with a 10 day pass for 5 with water parks and park hopper and for 14 day stay. Just ask if any questions....

Hi! We're going to Disney in September for a week and driving the ten hours to get to Portland, Maine to fly from there with AirTran. When we priced air costs out of Halifax it was well over $3000 for the four of us and it's less then $1000 (actually only $198 each return) from Portland. Well worth the ten hour drive! Not to mention we don't have our passports yet so a land crossing is our only option without the passport costs. Airtran is now a non stop from Portland so no changing planes in TO!

Hello there!

We have flown out of Halifax everytime so far (and it's been a lot). The issue it seems right now is the cost of flights have gone up extremely in the last two years with the dimise of CanJet, JetsGo and the like. We have flown through TO, Montreal and New York. We try to avoid TO as much as possible as the customs process takes hours there. My advice is to just keep a look out for airfares and when you see a good one...book it. For just the two of us, it doesn't make sense to drive to the States yet.

We've only stayed on-site, and like it so much we bought property on-site ;)
We became DVC'ers last year and look forward to many terrific vacations.

If you have any questions...let us know.

Regs,

CJM
