Hello all,

Our last stay was at POR, which we loved but sadly is not available at this time. I am reading up on the resort and seeing things saying you will wait at the bus stop for 45 minutes and that it takes an hour to get to the parks. Is this really true? I'm getting nervous since we're bringing our 3 kids under age 6.

Any other comments/recommendations for a first timer would be greatly appreciated.

I've stayed at both and while both are large sprawling resorts and both are wonderful, SSR is a big step up from POR and the bus situation is certainly no worse than POR's so you can definitely relax.

SSR is my home resort. No complaints. Is it at the end of the line? Yes, but an hour to get to a park? That's a bit farfetched and probably from someone who wouldn't be satisfied if he stayed in Walt's personal suite. It's vacation, have a good time!!

SSR is a lovely resort, although it is quite large. The buses are fine and it definitely won't take an hour to get to any park. You could have a bad experience at any resort with buses. With SSR, you are also close to Disney Springs which will give you a lot of food options. You will have a great time there.

SSR is in essence similar to POR for transportation. And bus service also the same. Disney even says to allow 1 1/2 hours of travel time I believe if you have reservations somewhere but that is being cautious. With the buses the unknown can be the wait for them. If you arrive right as a bus is arriving then it's shorter but if you arrive just as one is pulling away then you may have 20 minutes just of wait time.

Otherwise once you're on the bus the travel time will be similar to POR as SSR is pretty centrally located.
