First time visitors

We are heading to Disney for our first trip in March and when I called to make a dining reservation the person I spoke to mentioned getting a button to wear that let the characters, etc... know that it is your first visit. How exactly does this work??

You can get one from the concierege at your resort, that's the easiest way.

Wearing the buttons get you extra attention from the CMs if they see it on.

exactly, or if you wanna just get it at your parks, you can get them there too in case you forget them/want multiples if your going to each park. basically if you do character greetings they give you a little more than the average visitor. Have fun and hope you guys make some great memories.

At Magic Kingdom last week, they had a cart at City Hall (to the left when you first enter the actual park) that had all the different buttons. You just go up and ask for the one you want. I assume if you want a birthday button there is more to do since $$ is currently involved.

There is no money involved for the burthday button. If you want the free admission on your birthday, or birthday gift card or birthday fastpass - for those you need to sign up on-line for and can only be gotten the actual day of your birthday.

If you just want the birthday button - you get that the same way you get the other buttons.

I don't know if they do the birthday verification and issuing of the gift card/fast pass, etc at that particular cart in MK. It's inside the gate and if selecting the free admission, you would have had to do it prior to entering the park. The cart seemed to have mostly the First Visit and and We are celebrating buttons.

You are right. You cannot get the free adm/gift card/fast pass at any cart anywhere. You have to get that at Guest Services before entering the park.

My family and I took our first trip to Disney back in May of this year. I had each of us a shirt made that said "This Is My First Disney Vacation" Our first day in Florida we went to Epcot and while we were standing in the luggage check line a cast member noticed our shirts and brought all 5 of us a button. She said I love the shirts and just wanted to recgonize your first trip with this button. I hope your family has a wonderful trip.

Regarding the Birthday Button, I am a grandpa who took the whole family to WDW on my last birthday (no I didn't use the free admission option). A CM pinned a birthday button to my shirt and I received birthday greeting all day from every CM I passed. At times I completely forgot I was wearing the button and the greetings really took me by surprise. It made for a great day.
