I have a million questions, but the biggest one right now revolves around how to deal with the stroller. My baby is about 4 months now, and we won't be traveling until she is 9 months. She is our first, so I don't know what to expect.

We are getting her a seat on the plane, because I want to put her in the car seat. I'm assuming we should bring the base. We usually rent cars in WDW, but I think we might just use the Magical Express and take buses around this time. I think by the time we go, she will want to be sitting more upright and FORWARD and not in the current car seat stroller (its the graco with the frame) that we have now. I plan on buying a light stroller (Maclaren Triumph or Peg Perego Si). Do I bring this too? What can I check at the gate? Should I push her in the new stroller and carry the car seat onto the plane? Do I leave the "light" stroller at home and rent one down there?

I don't think thats a good idea, because we are staying at YC and I don't think it makes sense to walk carrying her to the parks until we get the stroller. I plan on eating a lot in the worlds at EC.

As you can see, I'm confused. Any help is greatly appreciated. :confused3

Hi, we traveled to DW when our boy was 9 months old. Yes you should bring a stroller and carry the car seat - you check the stroller at the gate before you board the plane - it will be waiting for you when you come off. It is somewhat dificult to carry all of these things (stroller, car seat, carry ons, baby) but it is needed. We did all of that but had two kids and two strollers and a car seat, carry ons, etc. Let me tell you we were happy to get to the resort. The stroller at the parks is not good for a 9 month old. I have had a number of strollers, like the Peg Perego, but this summer we bought the joovey kooper and LOVE IT! It folds up like an umbrella, it's lightweight, reclines all the way, and the sun shade is the BEST for Disney, it even has a flap that you can lift and peek at the baby sleeping. It is also a great stroller to grow into..it can hold your child until it is 55 pounds. My daughter is a very tall 4 year old and she was very comfortable in this stroller and so was my son who is 1..(now almost 2). Good Luck!

Yes to all this. Something to add - if you have a sling, or something to wear her with it is helpful for lines - where you can't have the stroller and you don't want to be holding her. For us that was a life saver - sometimes in the park our guys wouldn't want to be in the stroller so I could carry them in our Mai Tai.

Which Graco seat do you have? If it is one that holds more weight (the Safeseat of the Snugride32), or you have a smaller 9 month old I highly, highly recommend taking that seat over the 'big' seat (whatever convertible you have them in). Again, the 9 month old should actually fit in the infant seat (more than 1 inch of hard plastic above their head and below the weight limit) but if they do, take that one! If you are just using the ME and need the seat on the airplane, don't bother taking the base. You won't need it on the plane and it becomes one more thing to carry. If you are renting a car, you might want it but it isn't necessary.

The Mac was perfect for our 9 mo. We actually have a techno, but really, it is practically the same thing as the Triumph. It folds pretty small and was just fine taking on and off the busses. She was able to sit up and see everything and it wasn't too cumbersome to haul around. It reclined well enough for her to sleep when necessary. It actually held the stuff more than her, though. She wanted to be up and looking around and sometimes it was more trouble to put her in the stroller for the 20 feet to the next ride. :)

Gate check the stroller and keep her in the car seat on the plane. Definitely take your own. Those down there would not work well with an infant and the offsite rentals are bigger than the one you are talking about.

Oh, and I second the sling or carrier. We took our Ergo and that was a lifesaver. :)

I would definitely take my own light weight stroller. You can gate check it as you get on the plane. We went with 2 two-year-olds in Feb and were so glad we had our own strollers. The Disney strollers didn't look very comfortable, we didn't have to waste time renting and returning strollers, and we had strollers when waiting for buses, etc.

We flew with our children at 9 months and 6 months of age. If you want to keep your baby from crying on the plane, wait to feed her just as the plane charges the runway. The sucking motion will help with the pressure in the cabin. Repeat with another bottle once the final descent to land begins. This worked like a charm with our two babies.
