First time to WDW I am confused Please help

We are driving to WDW and staying at OKW 4/29- 5/7. I read a posted that the resorts are gated and not just anyone can get in. We have never been to WDW before. When we first arrive do we drive straight to OKW (providing we can find it) and go in to check in or is there another way this is done. I know this sounds like a stupid ? but with only a few days to go I realize we have no idea what we are doing!

Drive directly to OKW. When you arrive, the guard will ask for a photo ID and check it against a list of arrivals for that day. Then proceed to the front desk for check-in. Once you have checked in, you will receive a paper tag for your dashboard, this will identify you as a guest, so the guard may not require ID, and allow for free parking at the theme parks, if you choose to drive. You may be asked for ID if you drive to other resorts even with the tag.

I have nothing to add to Chuck's response, I just wanted to say how I envy you for your first visit to WDW. As many times as I've gone, there is nothing like the first time.

Finding OKW isn't too hard, once you get on Disney property you will notice a change in the color of the road signs. If your coming off of I-4 exit to the Downtown Disney Resort Area and then watch the signs for OKW. Have a GREAT TRIP!
