We are going back to Disney in January 2004 and for the first time will be staying on site. Have reservations for the Contemporary and really looking forward to it but have a few questions. Hope someone can help.

First, I have seen on some of the threads that you get a resort ID at check-in. Does everyone in my party get an ID? I don't have a picture ID for my teenage Niece that will be going with us. Does she need something to get her ID?

Second, what do we have to show to use Early Entry at the parks - the resort ID or room key?

Third, how easy are the buses to use when trying to get to AK or MGM? I like the idea of using the Monorail for MK and Epcot but am unsure if it would be quicker to drive our car to the other parks.

Thanks for any help you can provide. Oh, one more thing, how do I get the count down till my next trip to show???

Everyone gets an ID, but they are all in the name of the person whose name is on the reservation. So if John Doe reserves a room for 4 people, all 4 ID's will say John Doe. Only the person reserving needs to show ID.

The resort ID is your room key. It will also be your pass if you get UPH. Sometimes regular park hoppers can be added to the ID at check-in.

We usually just take the bus when we stay at a monorail resort. You may want to drive to AK.

Welcome to the DIS! If you stick around here pretty soon you will be an expert on all things Disney!

Your "ID" is basically a credit card type room key. You can get them for all members of your party and if you leave a credit card on file with the hotel the "key" can be used for charging back to the room in the parks, restaurants, etc... If you have children in your party who you do not want to be able to "charge" you specify that when you check-in.

You just have to show your room key (if they ask) for early entry at the parks.

Everyone has a different opinion but, one of the reasons I love to stay on-site is the bus service so I always use that. At the Contemporary the bus stop is right outside the front of the hotel so it is very convenient.

If you check the technical board there is a post that shows how to get the countdown clock on your post.

Have a great time planning your trip. These boards are a great resource!

Hi Tiggerafferty - Welcome to the board! We usually take the bus to parks but drive when we visit other resorts (except the monorail resorts). Enjoy your trip and your stay at the CR.

Have a great time. BTW, I love the Contemporary.
