Hi all. I had no idea that so many people travelled solo to WDW. So I booked a trip for the 27 sept to the 3 oct staying at port orleans riverside. For the last 2 years I have gone to Las Vegas with friends I think they are going agian this year but I wanted something different they did not want to do WDW. Last time I went to WDW was 15 years ago. I am feeling a bit nervous as I have never gone solo anywhere before. I think I would be uncomfortable eating alone is there any cafes that might be ok to go solo. Thanks for reading.

Regards

Tim

Congrats on booking your first solo trip! I'll be going on my 4th soon, arriving 2 weeks before you. But I'm sure there will be plenty of other people from the DIS boards there if you want to meet some new friends.

Anyway, onto the wonderful world of WDW solo - it's awesome!! You do WHAT YOU WANT, WHEN YOU WANT. Sleep in or head to the parks early, eat at a character meal or counter service on the fly, ride your favorite ride over and over or just sit and people-watch. Some people head out to the busses and grab the first bus that arrives - could be Epcot, AK, MK or MGM. Others (like me) aren't as spontaneous and plan out our park stategies. I like to try to get to the park that has early entry (EMH) and get as many rides in before the park opens to the public. Around lunch I usually head back to my resort for a little break then back to the parks later in the afternoon. At night I'll catch one of the firework shows (illuminations and Wishes are a must), then head to my fav bar on Earth - Jellyrolls!! It's located on the Boardwalk and is a dueling piano bar that's ALOT of fun. It's one fo the few bars I'll go to solo!!

Feel free to ask any questions and have a great time!!! :cool2:

go over on the meet board and see if anything is happening during your time.

if you are really shy - then just stick to counter service. or rent a dvc studio and eat in your room.

however eating is one of the fun things to do at WDW.

so good for it.

good restuarant (my opinion) for solo

Cape May Cafe at the BC - breakfast or dinner
Boma at AKL
believe it or not - Chef Mickeys at CR
Concourse steakhouse at CR
LeCellier at Canada

Also, you will be there for the start of the Food and Wine Festival at EPCOT so you won't need to worry about food or drinks the day that you do that park..I always travel up there solo and never having any problems striking up conversations with people, you could also post on here the days that you will be at each park and perhaps schedule a lunch or dinner with another solo, that way if you don't hit it off you only have to do a meal or continue on with the rest of the day with a "new friend". You will have an awesome time and although WDW is expensive you won't be losing your money in a slot machine:rotfl:

Sci-Fi diner is great for solos-you are sitting in the dark, so no-one can see you alone, plus you can watch the movies whilst you chow down:rotfl: I did Crystal palace brekkie too-even if you don't want the character interaction you can have a good time watching the kids meet Pooh and Tigger. You can always make sure you have a book with you to give you something to be doing whilst you eat, but honestly people really don't pay any attention to you.

I go solo 3/4 times a year and eat solo at any of the restaurants. Take something to read if you like. I have never experienced any problems with service because I was solo. :goodvibes

Hi Tim,

My first trip (of 2) I went solo. I had a great time. I didn't do the sit down restaurants, but I never had a problem with anything. From what you've seen here, you get the same service at the table service restaurants as someone not solo. I enjoyed my time alone and I had lots of fun meeting new people and talking to kids. Just be yourself, and you'll have a great time, I'm sure.

Hi Hobbes. Where did you get that avatar pic from.

Hey Tigger! I think we're going around the same time, and I have a question: I thought that the EMH in the morning meant that the park would be extra crowded. Did you find that NOT to be true. I purposefully made my plans to avoid EMH parks in the AM. So please let me know! Thanks!

The park that has EMH tends to be more crowded LATER in the morning, but not during that hour. I'll usually stick around that park until 11ish, then head out to either another park or a resort break.

If you can get to the park for opening, you can get quite a bit accomplished. I also try to grab fast-passes for the popular rides so I can go back and ride them again later without the longer wait times. Being that it's mid-September, parks shouldn't get too busy!

HTH!!!

DON'T feel comfortable about eating alone. It's not weird at all. I tried to get the latest dinner possible (so I could take an afternoon nap!), and often I could watch the fireworks at dinner.

Hmmm . . . I may have to change some of my plans then . . .:coffee:

Hey! You're back (yes I know I'm late)! I see you have a link below . . . will check it out!

Hey Glendamax!

I will be going to 27 - just missing you. I loved your last trip report - so funny. I don't want to miss your next ones just because I am at WDW. Please keep it going until I get back Oct 3rd!

Awww Man! I was hoping to skip doing a trip report this time around - that not writing it would go unnoticed! :lmao: I'll do one, but it wont be as long as last year's - felt like I was writing a term paper!

Thanks for reading the one from last year - glad you enjoyed it!

I loved it! And in certain ways it is like a term paper - the longer the better as long as it is funny!

Have a great trip! Free dining here we come!~!!

Sounds good to me!
Although, I'm not a fan of Biergarten, but I know a lot of people are.

Another good place to try would be Chefs De France or Coral Reef.

Hi Everyone...

I'm here solo at WDW right now!!! :cool1:

I wanted to add another restaurant to the "good" ones for solo eaters (although...I'll eat just about anywhere that I want to, whether I'm with someone or not!!)

I ate at Marrakesh (sp?) yesterday in Morocco...it was so much fun!! I managed to get a table about 15 minutes before the music and belly dancer started, which was a great way to keep myself entertained! Plus, the tables are close enough together that the family next to me started a conversation with me!

Have a great trip...and if anyone else is around solo right now, let me know!! I think I'm going to the Pirates and Princess Party on Saturday and I know I'll be at EPCOT Sat morning!!

:cheer2:
