My cousin/neighbor/best friend and I started using the Couch 2 5K app by Zen Labs back in June. We had to repeat a lot of days, but we just finished the program and are both really excited to be running our first "real" 5K this weekend. We are doing the Color Run in Mobile, AL. :thumbsup2 Do any of you have any advice about an organized race like this one for us newbies?

You guys will have a great time! I just did a Color Run this summer, and it will be great for newbies. Lots of people out to have fun, no one really worried about their time. I think you will be in the company of other newbies, families, groups, experienced runners out for some fun...

For the color run part, I would suggest keeping your phone or anything in a ziploc - the color powder gets everywhere! We sat on beach towels in the car ride home too.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it! I'm really getting excited!!!

I'm glad you mentioned the beach towels! My cousin's car has cloth interior and I wouldn't want to stain her seats :scared1:

I did the Color Run in Ft. Lauderdale back in April as my first 5k, and I had a BLAST! I walked most of the way, but I had so much fun. By the time it was over, I was covered head to toe in cornstarch. LOL Definitely bring old towels to sit on in the car. After the race, they have someone with a leaf blower to blow off any excess. Haha

The run starts at 8AM. Can you tell me when it might be over? We have to check out of our hotel at noon. I would love to take a shower before we drive home :)

We had such an awesome time! I used runkeeper during the color run and actually had better times per mile than I'm used to running at home. We had a late check out time at the hotel we were staying at so we were able to take showers before driving home. I'm already looking for another 5K!!!

I did a color run in August, not "The Color Run" but another one called King of Color. It was actually two 5ks in the same day, first you run a timed 5K and after you finish and get your medal and refreshments you rush over to the starting line again to do the color run.It was August and it was hot so the shirt was soaked and I got hit hard with color, like all over and the combination of a soaked shirt and the colored powder must have made that color stick to my skin real good cause it took like 3 days of multiple showers for all the color to go away.It wasn't everywhere but in certain areas,my chest was pink from all the mixed colors my shirt got hit with.Other places that had the color stick was my wrists for some reason.

Def keep a beach towel with you. I packed extra clothes and changed out of them. Get a bag for your shoes, make sure to use shoes that you are okay staining or need to give a wash. Mine still have the cornstarch on them and we did it over a month ago!
