For dinner, we had reservations for Jiko at 7:30. This was also our first time dining here. We arrived right on time for our reservation and only waited about 5 minutes to seated. As we were seated a nice lady came around with hot towels for us. Then our server came to take our drink orders. DH and DD had sodas and I ordered the Zebratini! It was really good and strong!!!! Had a slight coffee taste, I am not sure what was in it but Im guessing Kahlua, vodka, and some cream.(please correct me if I am wrong) After filling the glass, there was still enough left in the shaker to almost fill it up again.
After drinks were served, our server brought us some bread out and then we placed our orders. I loved this bread! It seemed to have a hint of cinnamony sweetness to it. Im not sure what the spread was but it went well with it. We ate every morsel!
For dinner DD and I both agreed to have the Filet w/macaroni and cheese. Of course I had to take the advice of all my friends here on the dis. You Disers did us justice! It was one of the most wonderful filets I have ever eaten. It was cooked exactly as I and DD ordered (med) The sauce was so rich and tasty! Much better than the normal steak sauce you get served at other restaurants. So, here it is in all its glory... I mean saucey goodness
My Dh ordered the wood grilled pork tenderloin w/ a sweet potato puree and sauteed spinach. The server told DH that the pork would be medium to med rare and asked if that would be ok. Of course he said yes, he will not eat meat any other way. The presentation was nice and he said it was delicious and perfectly cooked. I had a bite of the spinach and sweet potato puree and it was fresh and good. I initially thought it would be a weird combination but I was wrong.
Now for the best finish ever! We were totally stuffed by the end of the meal, but we were on vacation so what the heck, we ordered dessert. DH and I split the chocolate cake w/ lavender ice cream. Before I go any further I just want to say I NEVER fight over dessert but this was no ordinary dessert! I was skeptical about the lavender ice cream at first but it was truly amazing! I thought it would have a strong lavender flavor but I was wrong again! The cake, ice cream, sauce, and cookie were devoured in less than 2 min. My husband hasn't looked at me the same way since LOL.
My DD ordered the Madagascar vanilla bean mousse w/ macerated strawberries. If there are some of you crazy people that happen to not like chocolate this is the way to go. I was only allowed one bite (it was really all I could handle at this point) and I was very pleased. I had to stop DD from licking the plate. Seriously! She loved it!!
Next up day 3 DHS
