Hi Everyone,

I'm a tried and true WDW gal, but my hubby and I have decided to try Disney's Hilton Head Resort for a change of pace.

I know NOTHING about this resort, so I have some questions......

1. Based on some photos I've seen, this resort looks kinda "dark" (by that, I mean the room interiors). Is this true?

2. Does Disney have an on-site restaurant?

3. We'd be interested to stay near a pool, but I can't find a good map of the resort.......any suggestions?

4. Is the resort close to a beach?

5. If anyone has some photos they'd like to share, I'd be very greatful :D .

6. We've stayed at OKW already...is HH resort similar?

Thanks!!!!!!

1. Based on some photos I've seen, this resort looks kinda "dark" (by that, I mean the room interiors). Is this true?

Yes, though I think it's soothing. :)

2. Does Disney have an on-site restaurant?

Not really but there are options if you don't want to cook. There's limited grill food available at the gift shop and more grill food available at lunchtime in the Beach House. It's only a short, pleasant walk over the little entry drive bridge to the Shelter Cove marina area, where there are a few sitdown restaurants. Also, if you turn left there (don't leave Shelter Cove), there's a back driveway leading to a shopping center that has a pizza place, and I think, other options.

3. We'd be interested to stay near a pool, but I can't find a good map of the resort.......any suggestions?

The only pool that has rooms nearby is the main resort pool. Here's a DVC HHI Resort map. The pool is at the bottom of the walkway into the marsh, toward the upper leftmost third of the picture.

4. Is the resort close to a beach?

About a mile, by bicycle, car or daytime shuttle (ends around 4pm).

5. If anyone has some photos they'd like to share, I'd be very greatful.

Sorry, I don't.

6. We've stayed at OKW already...is HH resort similar?

It is, in that it's freestanding (not attached to a hotel), with attractive landscaping & views, exterior entries and plenty of outdoor activities. It is a completely different kind of vacation from a Disney theme park trip. We like it a lot, in some ways more than WDW. Have fun!

It sounds like you're a little apprehensive of trying Hilton Head...a lot of people are. But I think most people fall in love with it once they're there. It's definitely not WDW, but it has easily become our favorite DVC resort!

:D

Also you can find photos on the www.wdwig.com website. Look under accomodations and scroll down to Hilton Head photos. Sorry, I'm not computer literate enough to give you a direct link :(

You will not be disappointed. I toured the resort 3 days ago and it was nothing short of spectacular. I could see this being a favorite of ours in the future.

Hi, We stayed at HH a few years ago and loved it. The resort is about one mile from the beach. It has a pool on the property and it is on a bay, so there are water views. They have a beach for the use of resort guests, with a pool and snack bar on site. There is also a concession to rent beach chairs, floats, etc. When we stayed there, there was no restaurant at the resort, although there was a snack bar by the pool. However, the resort is in walking distance of a shopping center which has several restaurants. I really enjoyed being there as the atmosphere is very relaxed. The decor is not dark, but it has more of a northern, piney feel. However, much as I would like to go back, my husband and son insist on sticking to Disney. The closest in look to the HH resort on Disney property is VWL.

The only way I could buy into DVC was to promise we would visit HH again. Not that it is a problem, just don't let my DW know I feel that way!
