First Time on Southwest - Middle Initial Question

Hi -

We will be flying Southwest for the first time for our trip in December. I'm in the process of booking our tickets on the Sotuhwest website and I noticed that there is no place to enter in your middle initial on the booking page. With the new rules that the name on your ticket must exactly match the name on your drivers license, I'm concerned about this as both DH and I have our middle intials on our drivers licenses. Am I missing something? How do you enter in your middle initial?

Actually the new rules are not mandatory yet. They are allowing the airlines time to update their systems.

I booked my Sept trip in April and then this new rule came out. I called SW and was told that it was ok as is and that it wouldn't change until Oct. I figured that they were giving airlines time to make the appropriate changes to their systems. We will be leaving in 2 weeks, and I hope we don't run into any problems. Since you aren't going until Dec book your flight and then call their customer service number to get updated info. I have called customer service a few times, they are very friendly and very knowledgeable.

I just booked our return flight tonight and I didn't know you were supposed to do this. On other things if I need to put my whole name, I just put my first name and initial on the same line. I guess that's ok. I've never had a problem doing it like that.

You can just put your first name and middle initial in the "first name" box.

e.g. First Name: Joe B Last Name: Smith

I do this all the time and never have an issue flying.
