I have a couple of quick transportation questions since this will be the first time staying off-site and the first time with no car:

1. To get to Shula's Steakhouse at the Dolphin, should we take the shuttle to Epcot or DHS (whichever one comes first), then catch a bus to the Dolphin? Do the reverse to return.

2. To get to the Wave and Kona, should we take the shuttle to MK, then take the resort monorail? BTW, someone please explain the monorail system to me. I should know this, but we just haven't used the monorails enough. Do the resort monorails go from MK around in a clockwise motion, stopping at Contemporary, TCC, Poly, GF, and back to MK? Then at the TCC, you can get on a monorail that goes to DHS and back? If this is correct, then to get to the Wave and Kona, we will go to MK, then ride the resort monorail around until we get to the correct resort, right?

1.Take the shuttle to DHS and then either walk or boat over to the Dolphin. No buses from Epcot over there..you would have to enter the park and then walk through Epcot to reach it.

2. Yes, take your shuttle to MK. Then, take the resort monorail from the TTC. It will go to the Polynesian, then to the GF, MK and CR, finally ending up back at the TTC. This monorail, the resort line, runs clockwise. The express line, directly from TTC to MK, runs counter clockwise.
There is no monorail to the DHS. You take a bus there, from the TTC. You can take the monorail from the TTC over to Epcot though.
To get to the Wave, you would take the resort line all the way to the CR, stop right after the MK stop.

Thank you. I didn't realize there was no bus that went from Epcot to the Dolphin. I forgot about the boat from DHS. It does make a stop directly at the Dolphin, correct? Or do I need to get off at a close resort and then walk to the Dolphin?

Also, I must be very tired. I know that the monorail doesn't go to DHS. I meant Epcot. So if I take the bus to MK, why would I have to go to the TCC to get to the Contemporary or the Polynesian? Are the resorts and the MK not on the same line? Do I go to MK by shuttle, then get on the monorail to the TCC, then transfer to the resort monorail to get to the Contemporary or the Poly? Do I have this right?

The boat makes a stop at the Dolphin. It is actually one stop between the Swan and Dolphin.

Assuming you are taking a bus or taxi to Magic Kingdom from your off-property hotel, you will be dropped at the TTC (ticket and transportation center). (Only WDW Transportation busses from the resorts are permitted to drop off directly at the Magic Kingdom). From the TTC you will want to board the Resort Monorail (not the express nor the Epcot). The Resort Monorail will depart the TTC and stop at the Poly, then the Grand Floridian, then Magic Kingdom, then the Contemporary, and then it returns to the the TTC and begins the loop again. If you do get on the Express, it will pass the hotels, but not stop at them. The Express only stops at the TTC and Magic Kingdom.

If you are actually at the Magic Kingdom and not the TTC, you will still want to take the Resort Monorail (not the express). It will make the same stops listed above.

Got it. What was confusing me was I thought the shuttle would take us directly to MK. Now it all makes sense. The night we are eating at the Wave, I will already be at MK. I will have to give my DH directions to get there. I think now I can explain them to him. Thanks again!

To get to the Wave from MK, you could also walk. Then, after the meal, take the monorail from CR to TTC (one stop) and find your shuttle there.

Otherwise, take the resort monorail from MK to the CR (one stop).

Also, you could walk from the TTC (where your shuttle will leave you) to the Poly to go to Kona. You would walk from the shuttle area straight (monorail would be on your right) past the whole TTC area and you will see the walkway to the Poly. If the monorail is not waiting for you, it might be faster (maybe, maybe not), but it is a pretty walk.
