Hi everyone

This site is fab!!!!

First of all let me apologise for any mistakes i am typing with a 20 month old on my knee!!

Right, we (Hubby, Me, DD5 and DS2) have booked to go to Davy Crockett on 15 sep for 4 nights, we have found that insteard of hiring a car it would be cheaper to upgrade to a hotel, but which one?? we have been looking at Santa Fe, what do you think??

Another thing is spends, I am thinking £1000, would that be enough? MIL thinks i will need twice as much.

I don't care how much we will need because I am so excited just to be going!!
I CAN'T BELIEVE WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY!!!!!!!! YYYYYEEEEEEEEYYYYYYY:banana: :cool1: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2:
OMG I am so excited

The reason we stayed at Davy Crockett was so we didn't all have to sleep in one room, as you do in the Disney hotels. We have 2 small children like you and we wanted a bit of time to ourselves in the evening. But we were able to take our own car though, it's only a 3 hr drive from Calais if that's a possibility? Otherwise, I think all the hotels have their fans, their good points and their drawbacks. Have only stayed in Newport bay myself so I'll let other people comment. Try looking in the hotel FAQ sticky though.

£1000 for 4 nights OMG i wouldnt take anywhere near that and my kids will be same ages. I will have about £500 at the most

As you can see form my signature we love DCR & definately with 2 young children i wouldn't upgrade to SAnta Fe.

At the ranch you have a kitchen separate bedrooms & a brilliant pool . There isn't a pool at Santa FE. Also animal petting, character greetings etc.

£1000 sounds lots I'd take a c card for emegencys.

I'd deffo stay at the Ranch - every single time I've been there I loved it, and theres so much for the kids to do :-)

As for spends, you probs won't need any more than £1000. When I stayed for 4 nights i took about £250 with me (on a post office travel money card - highly recommended!) and i didn't have to use much more than that.

I think the most you would need would be £500 and thats allowing for eating well, and buying some pressies. :thumbsup2

Ok everyone you have convinced to stay at the Ranch, looks like we are Driving  .

As for spends how embarrassing:rotfl: I really thought that we would need that much!!! There's a big saving for us!!

Thanks for your replies I really appreciate it xxx

Well we, a young couple, took over £1000 of Euros and we've come back with enough money to book another DLRP holiday! And we ate out for every meal.....!!

It may be worth you thinking about getting some HB+ vouchers for your meals as these will save you quite a bit of money .... not sure if your 2 year old will have to pay for food or not thou .....

We spend about £300 including food, petrol there and back. However, our DD7 tookher own spending moneyu which she had been saving since Xmas - this was a really good way of letting her buy what she wanted without the continual "Mum ... can I have ...." situation. From December to April (when we went) we had been giving her extra money for helping round the house, doing homework etc .. she had saved just under £80 (which is what we would have prolly spent on her anyway). But it made it so much nicer for her to be able to spend her own money on what she wanted - as parents we can sometimes not understand that the little bits and pieces she sees mean so much to her (its a keyuring !!) .. but this way she was able to choose what she wanted.

It worked brilliantly and we shall do it again when we go to Florida next year !

I would defo stay at Davy Crockett - we just got back from Hotel Cheyenne and whislt it was fab it isn't really suitable for two small children as they would sleep in bunk beds ... I was quite worried by DD7 may fall out in the night if she woke to go to the loo, so made her promise to shout us if she needed to go ... which she did ! Good job really, as she was so sleepy she nearly fell off the top bunk - good job I was there to help her down.

The swimming pool is an added bonus ofc - as is the separate bedrooms - time for you to chill with a bottle of wine while they sleep (ha ! you wish  ).
