Hello,

First time next to Disney, Orlando. Cant wait.

June 10th is the date, which could change as we arent booking till september. Me and my GF are going for 10 days then to NYC for 4 days. Expensive but worth it for such a trip we think.

Now, the usually questions

1. Is 10 days long enough to do most things? I.e all the major parks etc?

2. My gf really wants to swim with the dolphins, is Cove the best place? Or is there somewere we could have longer time with the dolphins that the 30 mins stated on their website?

3. How easy is it to get up and down I drive and what time is the latest we could stay out till (I read some people stayed in WDW till 1am one time) with it staying safe to get home

4. How easy is it to watch TNA impact at Universal?

5. Whats the best tickets to get to enable to us to go to each park (maybe more than once)

Thanks in advance

OK, not sure I can answer all your questions but I'll certainly have a go - I'm sure others will add to it as they come along :)

OK, to my reckoning you have 8 major parks (excluding water parks):

Sea World
Magic Kingdom
Animal Kingdom
Epcot
MGM Studios
Universal
Islands of Adventure
Busch Gardens

So, yes, if you were to concentrate purely on those 8 parks and spend 1 day each there, you could easily visit all the parks in 10 days. However, in my opinion (and speaking as someone who is going on a 3rd trip this year and still hasn't seen anywhere near 'everything') you will not see everything there is to see in all 8 parks in 10 days. That said, the same could easily be said of a 14 day holiday.

My suggestion would be to read up a bit more about each of the parks and decide which would be your priority. Perhaps you could leave Sea World and Busch for another trip - however, seeing as you were asking about Discovery Cove, maybe you would be as well to include those. It really all depends how much time you want to spend in the parks, how early you're prepared to get there and how disappointed you will be if you don't see it all.

The other thing to point out is that if you try to do a park every day, you are likely to suffer from park overload and may end up not enjoying it as much as you would if you took things at a slower pace. The only thing I will add is that, if you are thrill seekers, you would be advised not to miss out on Universal/IOA as, in my opinion, some of the greatest thrills in Orlando can be found here (particularly IOA).

I don't really know the answer to this one. The only thing I can say is we have been to Discovery Cove and it is a fantastic experience. There is much more to it than just the dolphin interaction - it truly is a great day out. It is also pretty relaxing so might be a good idea for the mid-point of your holiday, to give you time to recuperate from what may be a pretty hectic schedule ;) You also get a 7-day ticket to Sea World or Busch Gardens (or, for a bit more, both) with your Discovery Cove entrance fee so could be worth it!

I-Drive itself is pretty easy to get around - the I Ride trolley runs up and down I-Drive from about 8am until about 10pm. You can buy multi-day tickets (14 day ticket is about $14 plus tax). We have used it loads in the past. Although it's not the easiest of places to walk, it is possible to walk between places on I-Drive - we quite often walked back to our hotel after our evening meal. You don't mention whether you will have a car but, unless your hotel runs a shuttle service, you may find it slightly more difficult to get to/from WDW. You can catch the Lynx Bus (number 50) from Stop 38 on I-Drive, however, I think the last bus leaves about 10ish from the WDW Ticket and Transportation Centre.

Sorry, don't know anything at all about this.

With regards to tickets, it will depend on which parks you want to visit. For WDW, if you plan to visit all 4 parks and would also like to try the water parks, your best option might be the 7 Day Premium ticket. This will allow you to visit the WDW parks for a maximum of 7 days over a 14 day period. You could also look at buying a Magic Your Way ticket, for which there are several different options, to include park-hopping, non-expiry and water parks etc.

For Universal/IOA, you can currently buy a 1 week ticket (allowing entry to both parks for 7 days over a 7-day period) for about £70.

Sea World and Busch Gardens - there are several different options for these but quite often you can find special offers, which allow multiple visits within 7 days, etc.

You can also buy a 4 (or 5) park flexticket, which includes unlimited entry to Sea World, Wet 'n' Wild water park, Universal and Islands of Adventure (and Busch for the 5-park) for 14 days. Personally, unless you know you will visit all 5 parks at least once, you can probably buy the tickets cheaper separately.

I hope I've given you enough information to be going on with - sorry if I've waffled on

I presume you mean the wrestling? There is a thread that may help from the Universal forum.

I agree with what Joh has said - the best tip is not to try and cram too much in, 10 days may be a squeeze to be honest and you could find if you do theme parks each day it will become too much and the magic of it all will just be missed.

If you want an idea of the many types of tickets available, this website may give you a good insight.

Thanks alot guys. Really helpful.

I wanted to go for 14 days but my GF loved NYC so much last year I promised her a few days their on the tail end of our trip.

I think we will try and cram everything in, but perhaps as you said we will tire and have to stop.

Thanks again

Having tried a 2 center before I would advise(If you're definately set on going) NYC first as I believe that by the time you have crammed 10 days in at Orlando, you will have reached burnout! Personally I would leave NYC for another trip, even for 14 nights there is too much to fit in-hence the reason we do 21!! Discovery Cove is a full day so that would make 9 days out of your 10.If you want thrill rides then I wouldn't miss out BG - 2 of the best coasters I have been on & that's before I've tried Shiekra!

I love NYC, too, but, once you're in Orlando, you might (actually, who am I kidding - you will ;)) find yourselves wishing you didn't have to leave. 10 days is nowhere near long enough to take everything in and keep your sanity. Remember, too, that you'll have to take a day out of that for the flight to New York. I do understand the attraction of trying to fit both into one trip, but you'll do yourselves a favour by just concentrating on Orlando, IMHO.

If you have complete flexibility with dates, I'm not sure I would choose June as a first option. it will be busy in the parks as a lot of America are on the school holidays and the weather will be very hot.

There are lots of great times to visit Orlando; it does depend what you are looking for but I would definitely think about other times of year :)

If you only stay for 10 days, I might be inclined to selectively leave some parks for a subsequent trip :)

If you really must do a two centre trip then I also recommend NYC first, I agree with Deb that once you are in Orlando you will not want to leave! However after 4 days in NYC you would have probably be heading off anyway.

I also agree with Joh, read as much as possible on each park & prioritise. Dont attempt to hit every park for just half a day each because then you will pay no attention to anything & spend most of your time 'in-between'. Decide on which parks appeal the most and concentrate on them.

The Disney parks do open later in peak season, sometimes 1am for offsiters.

Thanks again guys. I think after your feedback we will go to NYC for 4 days. And Maybe try and stretch to 12 days in disney. Allowing 2 days for travel so we will have the full 10 days in Orlando.

Makes sense - I actually think a few days in New York is a great idea, especially combined with your Florida visit, have thought about doing the same next year.
