Good for you and your Mom! I've always wanted to go to F&W. ENJOY! :drinking1
We are staying at BWV for the first time EVER March 2012 so I'd be interested in what "the experts" have to say aswell :goodvibes

My Husband and I went to MNSSHP in October 2009 and it was a blast, it's probably the best Disney memory I have.

Advice/tips for the party :

  • Get there at 4:00 instead of using your park admission for the day. You can go on whatever rides you want and then at 7:00 you can focus your attentions on the Halloween party activities like pictures with characters, HalloWishes, the Boo to You parade, etc.
  • If you are dressing up, make sure your outfit can accomodate different temps. We dressed as the Village People in 2009 expecting warm temps. We got down there and the night of the party was around 50 degrees! I ended up having to layer thermal pants under my Indian dress and because I was wearing sandals, my toes were frozen the whole night.
  • See the second parade if you want to compete with slightly lower crowds. The first was packed, but we waited to see the second and even though we stood around for about 45 minutes reserving a spot, it was well worth it.
  • Line up for pics with the Dwarves early if you plan to get a picture with them, the line forms quickly.
  • Only trick or treat for candy if you actually want to eat it. We did a bit of trick or treating until we realized it was a pain to lug it around all night, so we ended up giving it to some kids we saw in line. It's easier to just buy a variety bag at home for a few bucks.

As far as BWV, we have stayed there once and are looking forward to our second trip coming up in February 2012. It is an awesome resort and I'm sure you will love it. If you have any specific questions, let me know and I can try to answer---although I'm sure you will get loads more advice from others who are far more experienced at BWV than I am. :thumbsup2

I have also done F&W with my mom! I love the weather during that time of year, so I make a point to go each year, and I also stay at BW. This year I am going Oct 29th for four nights and can't wait. I am going with 3 other ladies. I have never done MNSSHP, but there is always trick or treating on the boardwalk on Oct. 31. Yes, JellyRolls is still there. I think the cover charge is $10. Don't forget that Swan/Dolphin restaurants offer a DVC discount, and they are so easy to walk to. Also, Restaurant.com has gift certificates right now to Shula's, Blue Zoo, Il Mulino New York Trattoria, and Kimono's sushi bar. (all these are at either the Swan or Dolphin) I received an email from Restaurant.com telling me to use the code SAVE at checkout, and the discount is 80%, making a $25 gift certificate actually cost $2.00. Can't beat that! Have a great time with your mom!

Agreed---what a deal! I bought one for each for our trip in February. We LOVE Bluezoo, Shula's is my husband's request for his birthday, Kimono's we thought would be fun for some late-night sushi and karaoke and who doesn't love Italian? It's great being so close to Epcot for dining, but it's even better when you can go to (IMO) a nicer restaurant in the other direction for $25 off, especially if you aren't on the DDP. :thumbsup2

THanks so much for the info about not using a park ticket and going at 4! I will also check out the restaurant gift certificates!!!

Keep the ideas coming...

Our Itinerary is gonna be something like this...

Day 1...
Staying at Jambo...gonnna go to AK for the morning.
Head over to BWV check in hang by pool.
5ish head to MK dinner at Tonys at 7

Day 2
Maybe hang at resort...DHS and Epcot...So excited to be close enough to walk to these

Day 3
F & W and dinner at La Celier.

Any thoughts????

Will you be staying a Saturday night? PFTS is well worth the price. I also had my eye on the Friday night dessert/cordials thing too. And do you have a map for the food booths. Yum! Staying at the Boardwalk will be awesome during F&W....you can roll down the boardwalk and into your room.

My advice is to take it slow at F & W. My sister made it a marathon one year - we visited every boothe in about 2 hours - the food was yummy, but we didn't ENJOY it. Take it slow - eat little snacks between attractions. We also love the Eat to the Beat Concerts.

I have also done F&W with my mom! I love the weather during that time of year, so I make a point to go each year, and I also stay at BW. This year I am going Oct 29th for four nights and can't wait. Candace - I've never used restaurant.com. Can you use more than one certificate at a time, or is it just one per table? Can you use the DVC/TIW discount with a certificate? Thanks!

Hi again....We're not doing Party for the Senses, well, just trying to stay on budget especially since we're going back in January with the kids.

I was curious about the restaurant.com certificate too?

Anyone have any idea what dinner for 2 at Shulas or the Italian place would cost mom and I????

My friend and I went to Shulas last fall during the F&W, and it was expensive. I can't remember for sure, but I think for the two of us, it was about $100 without any alcohol before tip and before the gift certificate. You can't stack the certificates or use them with other discounts. We had a certificate for $50, I believe. It was very good and a lovely restaurant. I haven't eaten at the Italian one.

If you're eating at Tony's on the night of MNSSHP I would suggest either eating a late lunch at MK or eat before you go to MK instead. If you eat at Tony's at 7 it's really going to cut back on your "party" time. As someone mentioned you can enter MK for the MNSSHP at 4 with your event ticket. Even going in at 4 the evening goes by very fast because there is so much to do and see.

We stay at BWV and got to F&W every year. In recent years, we have gotten the restaurant.com cert and gone over to Kimonos for a late night dinner and Karaoke. Personaly, we just spend most of time grazing at F&W and just have a couple of sit down meals - usually one at ESPN. A Caesar salad and Sandwich with fries shared between two make a great meal (IMO)

Also, My favorite breakfast spot while at BWV is Seasons in Epcot. It's a nice morning stroll and has a great selection. Last year they were offering 20% off for breakfast in a coupon on a receipt from a gift shop. Does anyone know if this is still happening? Then, when you'd go to Seasons, that receipt would have 20% off select gift shops IF you shop in the morning. So you buy a gift and get another Season's coupon

Walking to Epcot and DHS is great.

As far as Shulas, we have one of the restaurant.com certificates. Ours is one free entree with purchase of an entree. You can go on line and see their menu; but the bottom line you have to buy one $35-$50 entree to get one free. And the entre comes with nothing...so a salad is another $10+, appetizer is more, a side (potato or vegetable) is also another $10 and then I usually anticipate that cost of the wine is proportional to the cost of the entrees, so my guess is the cheapest glass iof wine is proably $10-$15. Even though with the coupon I will get $35-$50 off, it would still be an expensive night...so haven't done it yet.
