Im off on Saturday for my first ever trip to WDW! Im staying at Cypress Pointe for 2 weeks. Im sooooo excited. Could you suggest anything to calm me down? Any last minute tips? I may explode! Are any of you guys going to Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party on September 9th?

there is nothing that will calm you down when your a week away from your first wdw trip :thumbsup2

ive just booked again last week and im wetting myself with excitement already.

have a fab time and enjoy every minute

All I'll offer is get used to local time asap. Set your watch to USA Eastern whilst waiting to leave the Uk. Works wonders for me. Upon landing, you will be tired, thinking it is about 22:00 UK time, but will be around 17:00 there. Do not go to sleep, however tired you are, stay up as long as you can.

The following morning, your body clock will be telling you to get up very early, but if you stay up as long as you can as advised you will at least sleep for a bit longer.

Still be prepared to be awake early on your first full day, but take advantage and get to the parks early.

Enjoy !

Another tip - be as prepared for the holiday as you can. Don't leave anything to the last minuite.

Have you prepared a plan for your holiday ? Look for a thread started by me - which asks where you stayed the first time, you will find that nearly everyone there has posted that they were horribly unprepared the first time.

As Kevin says, set your watch to USA time:thumbsup2 I also find it helps.
Just go and enjoy yourself and remember you wont do everything or see everything on your first trip!! or your 2nd trip or 3rd..... :rotfl:
Have a great time, no-one can fully tell you what its like, before I went for the first time I just thought it was theme parks- whats the big deal... now on my 10th trip!! You will be gob smacked!! :thumbsup2

Take in as much information and tips as you can from these boards and plan your days. The more information you have the better your plans and the more flexible you can be :)

Don't try and do and see everything - you will be exhausted LOL

Above all - have a great time

the best advice was from Goofyish - do NOT try to do and see everything...
you'll only drive yourselves crazy and you won't enjoy it...
you need to relax and go with the flow (the turtle sings about that at the Finding Nemo musical at animal kingdom)..

i think DD is scheduled for the halloween party on the 9th....

WOW first time ever!!! You will LOVE it.Agree with Kevin, about the watch setting, staying up as late as you can on the first night etc..
I say the same thing to all first timers-stop and smell the roses-don't rush around like a wild cat-you will miss the finer details.I am a planner but not one of these 'to the extreme planners' where you have a set time to visit the toilet :lmao: .I have been 4 times now and there is still loads i have'nt seen or done.
Nothing will calm you down i am afraid-you have'nt been before+you only have 5 days left  there's no calm about that  .x.

I agree, we always do a plan of parks - working out the parks quiet days - which I think is essential and a few ADR's but that's it to be honest. We never really stick to the rest days we have planned either.

you will love Cypress Pointe we stayed there a few years back , and will be one of the places i would retunn to close to parks
ENJOY

I have just booked our 11th trip to WDW and the excitement never wears off!

Even with having been 10 times I keep picking up tips from this forum, but generally dont push your self by trying to stay at a park from morning to night every day .It has always been best for us to either go in morning when the parks open and stay until late afternoon or go to a water park in the morning and then arrive late afternoon and stay until closing:thumbsup2

Due to excitement and the time difference you will be up early for at least the first few days, so you will have plenty of time to have breakfast and be at a chosen park when it opens with ease.
We always stay in the WDW area, so we tend to use the first few days to go to Universal area as its a 30 min drive and we are up so early anyway. After that just take it easy, and use the fast passes at the parks.

When we do have a long day in the parks, we go to Epcot in the morning and park there, have fun then some lunch and leave about 2pm, but go by monorail to the Magic Kingdom leaving your car there at Epcot. The monorail ride is great between the 2 parks. Try to hang around where the front of the train is as if your lucky you can ride up front with the driver for an even better view! We stay at Magic kingdom until about 7pm and then get the monorail back to Epcot for the fire works,:thumbsup2

There is the new Aquatica water park in the Universal/Sea world area, sounds fantastic, we may well go there our first day.

Enjoy and be prepared to start planning your next trip as soon as you get back:goodvibes

I agree with all of the above....especially staying up as late as poss the first night! Also take deep breaths and soak up what you are experiencing as you will be overwhelmed, you will not be able to do & see everything so enjoy every bit of detail in what you can fit in! There's always next time...;)

One thing I would add is try to take an extra case or holdall you will buy so much stuff! Lots of souvenirs, clothes, trainers etc. When I pack I put a smaller case inside a larger case then pack my clothes as normal inside the smaller case then I have a spare empty case to bring back all the stuff I buy...well to be honest I do this with DH's case too so I end up coming back with 3 cases full of my stuff! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

As for calming down....no way why would you want to :confused3 .....go mad & have a fabulous time! :wizard:

wow thanks for the response guys.:worship: I have planned our trip alot and made sure we take advantage of a break when the days at its hottest etc. we also have several days off too. Thanks Kevin for that great tip. I will definatley do that. I have used the ASKDAISY busy day guide and avoid EMH nights to make sure we get the most of our time. I stick closely with The brits guide too. I have got mum to buy us MisterFans and get Flannels to soak in water and put in the freezer each night, then the next morning put them in a zip up bag. We also have booked a few ADRs one is at Shamu Rocks Buffet on the Second Day so I really cant wait for that. Just need to get rid of my toothache "bloomin bank holiday so no Dentists around until 2 days before I go!:confused3

Im also excited about going to the Walmart on Turkey Lake road!

That's what we're gonna do - small suitcase inside bigger case as every time we've gone previously we've had to do a last minute dash to the nearest Walmart to get another case :rotfl2:

we have paid extra so we can have VERY heavy luggage. We are going to buy alot of clothes and stuff out there!

So you have paid extra for the trip both ways? Why?

Buy all toiletries, suntan lotion etc over there. Your bags will be far lighter going out. It's a constant struggle to get my wife to understand that - I think it's a female thing

I take hardly anything out, a few t-shirts maybe and shorts and a couple of items for the evening. I am going to buy clothes there, so why fill my bags up with two weeks worth of clothing? Things like deodrant and toothpaste go in my handluggage.

I could be wrong but I think with TCD you pay a flat fee for a luggage upgrade and automatically get it both ways.
Enjoy your first trip, there's nothing quite like experiencing WDW for the first time :goodvibes

WOW 4 days left no wonder your mega excited and its your first trip I cant suggest anything to calm you down as everyone else has said. It sounds like you have a good schedule planned anyway so I am sure you havent forgotten anything.

Dont forget to go and get your 1st trip badges you can get these are guest relations on every park entrance!

Have a fantastic trip! :goodvibes

We have paid for extra for the homeward bound journey. Like I said we are going to get alot of our stuff out there.
