This is probably something I should be able to figure out easily, but I thought I'd get some expert advice. We have 150 points at BWV which we purchased a few months ago - April use year. We have ressies at SSR for Thanksgiving 2006 for 152 points and ressies at BWV for Easter 2007 for 140 points (using next year points) Mom in law is having surgery and now we are thinking about cancelling the Thanksgiving trip before the 30 day window.( We assume she'll ok, but at 80, you never know) If we do that, can we move those points over to the BWV Easter trip next year, saving the next use years points for banking or another trip? I assume we couldn't do that if we cancelled within the 30 day window.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I have an April use year also. The 100% banking deadline was September 30th. So at this point you could only bank 75 points. If you cancelled with the 30 day window, they would go into holding, which means they can only be used for a reservation within 60 days and would expire 3/31/07.

If you cancel the Thanksgiving trip, the two points you borrowed (or banked from last year) from next year will be lost unless you use them by March 31, 2007. Of the other 150 points for 2006, you would have had to bank them by September 30, 2006 in order to use them next year. You can still bank 50% of this year's 150 points if you do it by December 31.

You should call MS tomorrow, explain what's happening and ask them for advice on what to do.

Good luck to you and your MIL.

I'm sorry to hear your MIL needs to have surgery. I hope everything turns out OK.

If you want to avoid having your points go into the holding account you must cancel at least 31 days prior to check-in, not 30 days. At this point you can only bank half of your points but if your points go into holding, you won't be able to bank any of them.

Good luck. I hope everything works out for you.

There is a ONE-TIME SUPER-SECRET banking exception allowed on every membership.

Call MS and tell them your situation, and ask about a one-time banking exception. (You still can not bank any borrowed, previously banked or holding points).

You could also probably easily rent this sold-out week on the rent-trade board as well.

Best of luck for you Mom and her surgery.

I must have had a brain spaz and forgotten about the banking deadlines. I think we're going to risk holding on to the ressie and not using the possible one-time banking exception (I've also got an elderly parent w/ medical issues) I agree that we might be able to rent the points at the last minute since it is T'gving week. And, we'll just tell MIL we'll take her with us next time, and she'll be sure to recover quickly!
