Hi everyone

Hope you are all enjoying the festivities :santa:

Just after a bit of advice on booking a DIY trip for October 2011

We usually book a package through Virgin Holidays but we are considering booking a short trip (7 nights) for October 2011 mainly because we would love to check out the Food & Wine Festival and also MNSSHP and I have been looking at booking the flight with VA and the accomodation direct with Disney

The flight is coming out at £528 (miles plus money) per person.I know I could probably shop around for a cheaper flight but as a slightly nervous flyer I would like to stick with VA as I have travelled with them so many times previously

Looking at the Disney site, Old Key West seems to be offering the best discount with free dining at £917

We have never visited OKW before so I would welcome your comments/opinions

Also what do you think of the prices? having never looked at this resort before I'm not sure if this is a good offer :confused3

Finally looking at pevious dates for F&W it looks like we should be able to visit 2nd week of October but does everyone think that it would be running as well as MNSSHP at this time

Thanks in advance all :goodvibes

Linda

Hi Linda

The price for the flights is fine for a direct Virgin flight.

You need to add tickets for OKW, and for the extra few hundred I'd think about going deluxe DDP as then you'll get loads of snack credits for F&W, and you can go to lots of signatures.

We love OKW, it's a beautiful resort. F&W and MNSSHP will both be on mid Oct.

Remember to go through cashback sites both for flights and WDW Travel company, but also price up complete orlando as the OKW/tics might work out a little cheaper.

Once you've done that, price up with VH/Travelcity direct etc too...with the 10% sale you may well find there's not much in it.:thumbsup2

thanks so much, that's great info :thumbsup2

I am certainly going to look at the deluxe dining plan as I hadn't even thought about the snack credits

Never used a cash back site so not sure how to do that :confused3

Have a look at http://www.quidco.com/ but there are others.
Everytime you buy something on the net you go thru a cashback site, it tracks your purchase and gives you a % back. For Disney hotels & ticket package 3% https://www.quidco.com/disney-florida-holidays/?ac
I am just waiting for £150 to be paid out for our Disney booking for August.

Whatever you do online check a cashback site 1st, like switching energy company, I moved to cheaper company this year and they gave me £100 cashback as well. Now had about £3,500 cashback in past few years.

Thanks Wayne
Great info as always. Our October 2011 trip is a bit spur of the moment but the prices seem good to me and it's a nice Christmas present to ourselves :)

The newly renovated studios at OKW are lovely, have a great trip.

We used alot of snack credits at F & W - some great values, got a $7.50 lobster roll for a snack credit.

So I've gone and done it !!

All booked up for a week in October :)

That means two visits to WDW in a year :) :) :)

I am one seriously lucky girl

We have booked a week at Old Key West with free dining :)

I am really excited as I am hoping to go to F&W and MNSSHP for the first time

It will also make getting on the flight home in May easier knowing we have another trip planned :)

I am sure I will be asking for lots of tips about F&W from you all !!
