My husband and I are taking our 2 kids (ages 3 and 5) on their first Disney Cruise in 2 weeks.
I have 2 questions for now...
Does Disney provide lanyards for our cards or do we need to bring our own?

Is there motion sickness medicine approved for small kids and do you recommend that I bring it along?

No lanyards for first time DCL cruisers. Note - you don't HAVE to have lanyards.

I'd suggest talking to your pediatrician about motion sickness meds. Typically, kids don't have the same issue with motion sickness as adults to.

For the kids, you might look into getting a couple pairs of Sea Bands (kids sized ones). They use acupressure to relieve motion sickness--medication free, they're worn on the wrists like sweatbands.

If your kids don't normally have motion sickness, they will probably be fine, but definitely check with the pediatrician to see what they recommend!

1. I recommend bringing your own lanyards as they're very convenient, especially for kids, and Disney only gives them to return cruisers.

2. I recommend bringing over-the-counter kids' sea sickness medication, and using it if someone starts feeling seasick. Seasickness is rare on the big cruise ships, though, so don't worry too much. I don't recommend treating them in advance in any way, as they're more likely to be fine than to need treatment.

I use sea bands and they work well for me. When I take them off I can really tell a difference. I also keep ginger capsules with me and take 1 if the sea is extra choppy. The capsules can be poured into sprite and taste like ginger ale.

The lanyards are for return cruisers only but you can purchase some in the gift shop. They are very handy for embarking and disembarking at the ports with kids. Each person has to hold their own pass. They do sell over the counter motion sickness meds for children. Check the label on each of them before buying. I once bought some where the bottle said it in big bold letters that it was child safe. This last time I purchased some I had to read the directions on the back and it gave the ages and dosages. I would definitely purchase them to take with you but don't give them to your kids unless they need them. They will treat symptoms right away upon taking.

When you're looking to buy a lanyard, make sure it has the clear pocket attached at the end to slip your card into.

And you can find kids chewable Dramamine near the kids medicine in the store.

Generally, the cost of lanyards onboard in the gift shops is pretty high (around $8.00). You can get cheaper, Disney themed (or others) at Party City. Around $1.00 each.
