First-time cruiser report: Magic Eastern Caribbean, Mar 26-Apr 2, 2011 (+navigators)

Enjoyed the trip report! We will be on that cruise on May 4th...so ready! We are considering the same St. Martin Excursion, but I have a question: were you in a location with access to parasailing and jet ski rentals?

Thanks!!:thumbsup2

I can't give you details because we didn't explore it, but yes, to the right of the Waikiki Beach area there were parasailing and jet skis rentals.

You can walk the entire length of Orient Bay from the excursion point at the Waikiki Beach restaurant, and the beach is quite long.

Just wanted to say thanks for writing this!!

It was very short, honest and to the point. The info about the restaurants is very useful - and I am really happy that you wrote what you did about the mugs. We were considering bringing ours, but I'm not going to now that I know that the mugs aren't that much bigger than the paper cups provided.

Thanks again!!!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the report and found it helpful. I'm sure you'll have a great time on your cruise...we wish we were on it with you!

Thanks for all of the useful information. While this will be our 5th Disney cruise, it will be our first Eastern and its nice to hear of what excursions are good. I've read of some who just rent a car for St. Maarten. Did you wish you could have stopped at sites along the way to the beach or were you able to see enough of the island? Thanks for including the navigators, it helps to see ahead and plan for some of the activities. :yay:

No, for us we did not feel like we needed to stop on St. Maarten, because the tour guides on the excursion company did such a good job giving us an island tour. We wished we had another hour at the beach, though.

I should add that on our return to the ship, the excursion bus did make a stop at the main shopping area in Phillipsburg. It was a 15-20 minute walk to the ship or you could take a taxi. We did not get off though. At the terminal there are some stores as well, which is about all the touristy browsing we needed to do.

We rented a car and drove up to Orient Bay, then came back and picked up Ally from the Oceaneers Lab and went into PHillipsburg and the shopping area there, plus the beach. This was my favorite part.

A) the shopping area was beautiful, very quaint and MUCH nicer than in St Thomas, IMHO..... And didn't seem to be bothered as much by the locals hounding us.....

B) the beach had the port in the background and I just loved seeing "our" ship sitting there waiting for us. She is so beautiful!!!!
