Hello -
First time cruiser, going on the Disney Wish and wondering on what things to bring with me. Someone suggested a lanyard and a reusable cup. Any suggestions kind/brands/etc??
Thanks!

I second the Tervis recommendation. You can find some cool Disney lanyards on etsy or just bring whatever, but it's nice to have something.

Cup is nice if you want more than the cups they have. I take a cup but hate carrying it around. I have so many cups from our WDW trips I bring one of those with us. Usually bring it to have water in the cabin to take my pills before bed.

Lanyard …I don’t use either just put it in my pocket. I know a lot of people don’t have pockets so that is up to you too.

Lanyard with a cardholder and a tumbler as people recommend.

Some nice to haves are magnets to decorate your door (not pineapples!), magnetic hooks, towel clips for the pool chair (i didn't really use these).

I have a small backpack where I keep a swimsuit & sandals for embarkation day in case there's time to hit the pool.

I usually bring a bladder-style water bottle. Not so much for use on board ship but to use when I go on excursions. I can fill it up before we leave (ice & water or vitamin water & ice) and then it folds flat when empty which is nice because then it doesn't bang me when I walk (it clips to my bag). I do use it occasionally on board ship but mostly to have beside my bed at night so I don't have to get up to get a drink of water.

Why not pineapples?

Symbol for swingers or wife-swapping. When I checked Google to verify this, I also found out that the flamingos I put on my decorations can have the same connotations.

I am not a fan of this appropriation of things that were just indicative of hospitality and happiness.
Wow learn something everyday.

You have to carry your phone and room key. Whatever lets you do that easily (and hands free) can make your life easier. I have converted from a lanyard to a small cross body bag to hold these items and reading or sun glasses. No need to carry much else, as you are never that far from your room and don’t need a wallet onboard.

You shouldn’t stand out as not wearing a lanyard; my last cruise (lots of repeat cruisers) went without wearing them.

This is not ecologically responsible, but I don’t like toting a heavy water bottle. I often just use the paper cups at the drink station (or carry the plastic cup out of Cabanas (that would be Marceline Market on the Wish) until I am through with my drink, placing it in the appropriate area on top of trash stations on the pool deck.

We forgot cups our last cruise and ended up buying some Wish exclusive Tervis in the gift shop that we really like and use daily at home. But really any kind of travel mug, water bottle, etc. that you already have works fine. The paper cups at the soda fountains are on the small side, so having your own cups eliminates the need for repeated refills or having to fill multiple cups for yourself to get through your meal. Really depends on how much you drink I guess.

Lanyards are nice if you don't have pockets or are worried your keycard might fall out of your pocket. I like it because it's easy to grab and open the door. That said, once the MagicBand+ technology is on board the ships, I won't bother with a lanyard any more.

Lanyards were a nice addition, especially if you are travelling with kids who like to open the stateroom door. I got ours on Amazon, along with some magnetic hooks. We hung our lanyards on the back of the door (with the magnetic hooks) to remind us not to leave without them. We used cups on board, but brought our reusable water bottles for water to take on excursions and on our flight.

For the Lanyard you could choose any and buy the plastic pocket to hold the card at an office supply store. As a memorable keepsake I’d wear your favorite character and add or bring some Disney pins. Then when you all go out the door the bright colors are a reminder to bring them because it’s annoying to have to go back to the room for them. I’m not sure how pin trading is working currently so that might be though FE, officer trading, or someone you see walking around now or some on the cabin doors as exchanges.

The cups.
Several thoughts here.
•Go to the Dollar store and save your return packing space for actual souvenirs by tossing the dollar store items when you leave.
•Maybe plan to buy one or more on the ship as souvenirs. They are not cheap but nice quality products.
•Get in the FE’s on ship and ask if anyone is going to give cups so you don’t have to bring one. (This is a little sketchy because your asking what your gift is before you receive it though)

Magnetic hooks-the stateroom walls are metal so you can use the hooks as storage for things. Clips can be nice to hold the curtain together (so no light shines in in the morning).

I took a 24oz Hydroflask with screw on lid - it kept things cold and I could toss it in my beach bag without worrying about a spill. My kids also brought insulated metal water bottles, but the kind with straw lids that are popular with college kids. Any lanyard with a clear zip pocket that fits a room key card would work fine.

I also found out that the flamingos I put on my decorations can have the same connotations.
I've use flamingos for yard/rv outdoor decorations for years and I've had absolutely no issues with people looking for "swingers".
