Hi all,

Question, I just purchased and I have 2013 banked points. We are going to book an Aulani stay. Two questions. The whole stay is not available so I was going to book what is, three nights out of eight are not so I'm going to try and waitlist them, once I figure that out lol. If I need to cancel, will I get those points back free and clear if they don't expire until 3/31/2015? I'm still a little unclear on how all of it works. If I cancelled before 30 days out I get them all back right incase they don't come through and I want to rent the points out.

Also, what is the Hawaii Transient Accommodation Tax? I saw it gave a figure of $4.20 is that per point? So lets say I used 144 points for an 8 night stay for a deluxe studio am I paying $4.20 x 144 points? I really didn't understand how that works. It just states its a nightly tax. It reads "imposes a nightly transient accommodations tax based upon the number of Vacation Points required for the stay and the per Vacation Point Annual Dues for the calendar year of the stay"

Not sure what it means by nightly tax and per vacation point annual dues means. Just trying to figure out how much it may equal out to.

Thanks.

The $4.20 you saw appears to be the amount per night for a standard studio in Adventure season, which is 18 points. That comes out to about .233 cents per point.
The tax on a stay costing 144 points would be about $33.60 in 2014.

The tax is special tax by the state of Hawaii on all timeshares in the state. Since the tax is partially computed on maintenance fees, the rate will change yearly as mf's change. So for a stay in 2015, the tax will be a little bit different, depending on mf's for 2015.
