We're staying at the Poly for the first time next week and I'm so excited! I've been wanting to stay there forever. I have some questions. Which longhouse do you recommend? We'd like to have a balcony as opposed to the patio - can I request that? It's just my husband and myself. We have a garden view. I'd a quiet room. I'd prefer not to look at the parking lot or monorail. We don't have to be that close to the great ceremonial house or the pool. Are there refrigerators in the rooms? Are the Christmas decorations nice there? Anything we should do while we are there? We've eaten at O'hana before and I saw that show when I was little and it doesn't interest us now. I've been reading Tikiman's site, but I just wanted to hear from DISers. My husband and I are giving this trip to each for Christmas and it's our first Christmas being married! Thank you for your help! :jumping3:

Congrats on your first Christmas together...it's ours too! We got married at the Polynesian in July. We stayed in the Tahiti longhouse. You can definitely request your preferences to guest services. If they have the rooms, they will accomodate you. It is better to ask then not! They are usually happy to accomodate you.

You're definitely picking a great resort for your first Christmas together. It is such a lush, beautiful romantic place...you made a great choice. I don't know what the holiday decorations are like...BUT you can see the castle and the fireworks from the beach which is nice.

There are no refridgerators in the room (bummer!)...I was disappointed in that.

For fun...you can take the boat over to wilderness lodge...that is always fun!

If you have any other ?'s....you can PM me.

Have a beautiful trip! I am envious!

in the Fiji building, and the view from our 3rd floor balcony was of the wedding pavillion, the lake and GF. It was beautiful, quiet and close to all amenities. I highly recommend it!

We stayed in Tokelau 3rd floor. It was GV but on the lagoon end of the building so we could see the lagoon from our balcony. It's not too far from the GCH or the TTC. The volcano pool is close and the quiet pool is right outside the building.

Have fun!

We loved it! It's the last longhouse, next to TTC. We were 3rd floor right on the end. It was a quick walk to TTC, a short walk to the volcano pool and GCH. My DS and I went down the outside stairs and out to the beach and sat on lounge chairs and watched the fireworks at MK.

We went just ahead of Christmas 3 years ago...The resort is beautiful at Christmas!

Enjoy!

I would pick 3rd floor figi also. :D We had the marina view, Either view is great. Its a great location. quiet but not far away from things. Good views. We had the BEST mousekeeping in figi too. :flower1: They were extra special. Lots of towel animals and we don't have kids. :smooth: Its really my favorite building so far and we have been in almost all of them. Tokelua is a good location but can be a very crowded building and noisy next to the pool. We always have had the noisiest neighbors in tokelau for some reason. I'm afraid to try it again. Tahiti's garden view is nice and its quiet but its farther out if you don't mind, closer to TTC. Samoa is also noisy, from the pools. We loved our 3rd floor Rarotonga view of monorail / parking lot = could barely see parking lot, had to look for it. Liked watching the monorail. And Aoraotagoa has a nice gv but also we liked watching the monorail, Monorail is far enough away so as not to be intrusive but close enough so you do get to watch it.

Personally, I don't think there is too much wrong with the Poly so not to many bad rooms to be had. :earseek: :D Have a great trip. We usually just request 3rd floor with a balcony non- smoking. And have always been happy. :flower1:
