I've booked a 1 br at OKW for a few nights in June. Are they any recommendations as far as location, floors, etc? How about places to eat at the resort? Thanks!

Thanks, I guess that was a silly question, huh? I was wondering about a quick, in and out cafeteria type place. I knew about Olivia's, but didn't know if there was anything else. Since we'll be at the BCV earlier in the vacation, we'll be eating at our regular favorites, including O'Hana's.

Hi, Barb. Sounds like you haven't been to OKW? Hope you love it half as much as DH. He wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. And we found food and service at Olivia's fine-we'll probably eat there again when we go Memorial Day week. We were in the resturaunt at an off time, very few people, so our server didn't have much else to do and wasn't harried. Anything other than a first floor room will guarantee that you don't get a Handicapped room. We were in building #37 last time (OK, only time so far) and loved it. Honestly I haven't heard of anyone getting a building and view they didn't like yet. Anyone?

Olivia's is very good. Its certainly not over-priced by WDW standards. It really is good. We eat there a couple times every trip. I am glad they got rid of the character breakfast. They used to bring in pre-plated, cold food for that wonderful event. We used to have to make sure that we scheduled our breakfast accordingly, now we don't have to worry.

We have stayed there almost every year since '93. I don't even make location requests anymore, we have always been happy with the location.

As far as location, I have never made a request and have never been disapointed. Have eaten at Olivia' once, nice but there are nicer. My personal favorite is Olive Garden at Crossroads. Nice family meal after a day at the parks.

Main thing is have a great time. Never been in June, so you may want to be patient with the crowds. Remember, your part of the family now so you will be coming back. Lots!!:p :p :p

It really doesn't matter where you stay at OKW, they don't honor room requests other than smoking or other special medical problems. Olivia's is a nice place to have lunch. All the room locations are nice, the one bedroom you will be happy with that is for sure.

there is also a little counter service place where you can get burgers and hotdogs and things of that nature.
we were there in sept and was blown away by this resort you will love whatever room you get, we checked in very early and yhe CM got out a map of all the buildings and told me which rooms were ready and let us choose because the room we originally was suppose to get was not ready when we arrived, i thought that was very nice of the CM. enjoy your stay.

Between DW and the family, we have stayed in the bldg. 23, 24, 25, 26 group everytime and have loved the location. We also loved Olivia's for breakfast. Some of the best quality food we have had at WDW (for real ;) ).

Enjoy your stay...and come back to Chicago again soon!

We too have not had a location we didn't like. A few have been a long walk to the bus stop, but in WDW EVERYTHING is a long walk! We really didn't notice that much of a problem.

Barb - we have made location requests and each time we have been given our request (in the near location - we ask for the 23, 24, 25, 26 area (or whatever all those buildings are) - the only complaint I have is 2624 has the bus stop right behind the room and if you want to sleep past 7 - forget it!!!

We have also requested a certain floor and have always gotten that request (2nd or 3rd floor) and non-smoking (that is the first request we make and it is the most important). If there is an area that you are interested in when you check in, they will try to work with you to see if anything is available. As someone else said - stay away from the 1st floor unless the handicap showers don't bother you - to me, I didn't care for them - water all over the floor.

Goods to Go is the "carryout" place and the food is okay. They have salads, burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. If the weather is nice there are a few picnic tables that you can sit at or you can take your food over by the pool or back to the room.

Here's the menu for Goods to Go

A couple of weeks ago we were in Bldg 35, right across from the Old Turtle Pond Rd bus stop. Excellent building. We had two requests, non-smoking and water view. Got them both. We had asked for a bldg near the canal, but got a lake view (or water trap in golf course terms).

Olivia's is good for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They have a great club sandwich.

We stayed at OKW in April, thought we wouldn't like the location, but we ended up loving the resort. Excellent atmosphere and large rooms. We looked at the building maps on-line and requested building 63. We got the request and loved the location....by a bus stop, across the street from the club house where a pool and Olivia's is located. Since we drive a car when there, building 63 was also a good choice as it is at the front the resort.

When Olivia's was busy and we couldn't get a seat we went to the take out window and order off Oliva's menu! As we only wanted sandwiches and a sundae it worked out great. We always got our requests of non-smoking, first floor, rooms near each other, and Turtle Pond area.

I made my December reservations this past Thursday..

The CM asked "me" if I had any special requests beyond non-smoking.

I said, "Well, I don't think it really matters any more, does it?"

He said, "Well, yes, they were trying something different in an attempt to get people into their rooms earlier." "They've tried it before, but then they'll switch it back, then they'll switch it back again..."

He told me that I "should" give him my requests - as they'll probably be blocking rooms again - as they were before - by my trip in December.

We'll see...
