Ok, so we are going to MK on our first full day with DS4 and DS6. I know, I know, we aren't suppose to take them there on the first day b/c nothing else will live up to their expectations after it, but anyway...
right now we have an ADR at Chef Mickey's for 8 AM then we are off to MK for the day. figured we'd get as much in as we could, lunch, nap, then return to the park that afternoon to finish whatever we didn't get in. i would like to attempt the nighttime shows at 9 and 10. it is a possibility with are boys. we'll just have to see.
this day, June 14, MK has morning EMH, so i am wondering should i try to move our ADR to an earlier time to get more time at the park? sorry so long for just a little question!

Ohhhh! How exciting! A first trip! Well, I think alot depends on what time you are arriving the day before, how long your trip is, and where you are staying. To get to an ADR earlier than 8:00am you're looking at getting up awfully early. If you've had a full day of traveling and don't get to the hotel until later, it may be asking for cranky boys the first day. It's also going to be HOT, so keep that in mind too.

I don't have an answer for you, but you will be in the park on my Birthday!! June 14th! We will be there a month before you... on another vacation on my Birthday!

But I have read on here that when the parks have extra hours they tend to be busier that whole day?!?! Don't know how true that is or not, but hey it's worth a try!

Have fun!

I have to agree with the above poster, an adr an earlier would be getting you guys up pretty early. That would be a nightmare for us, but if you are used to it then it might be ok. While I have not went to any morning emh, I have found the night emh parks to be very crowded. I don't know that I would try and up everything to make it.

I would consider getting to the MK at 8:00 for the EMH, (low crowds ,cool temps) , and then breaking around 10:00 or 11:00 for breakfast at CM. Ask for the last breakfast seating. That way you can take advantage of the EMH and you will be ready for a big breakfast a little latter.

I would do Chef Mickey's another day or maybe for dinner that night. If that day is an EMH morning and you are a resort guest, I would take advantage of that, especially with 2 young kids. You will be able to get a lot done in that extra time. The park will start to get crowded in the afternoon, after lunch. That would be a great time to head back to your resort, nap, then plan an early dinner at Chef Mickey's. That way you will be able to see the night time parade and fireworks.
I would not go to breakfast any earlier than 8am. Actually we would never make it!LOL Also, DH would probably kill me if I woke him up at 6am on a vacation for a 7am ADR!!
A lot of us avoid the park that is having the EMH in the morning if we can't be there for opening to take advantage of it.

Have a great trip!

OP, I just noticed your DS's names! It reminded me of one of the shows DD loves, Jake and Josh!! Love those names. My BFF just had triplets and named one of the boys Jake.

A CM gave me this tip last year, and we're using it again this year: Book 11:15 for Chef Mickey's. That way you can use the EMM and go to a late breakfast (eat a granola bar in the am, excitement will keep you going on your first day.) Then you can choose to nap after brunch, or head back for a few hours until it gets hot and yucky. It worked out great for us last year! Have fun!

Don't cancel your Chef Mickey ADR I think it's a great way to start your vacation. I do like the idea of the 11:15 adr. We went at 8:00am good start to the day then took the monorail to MK. What a great way to start a Disney vacationprincess:

that was exactly what i was thinking! the boys would love the monorail! i figure we would still be in the park around 9ish. (since it's a buffet, i am hoping things move a little quicker than at a regular restaurant.) i have planned out a tenative tour of MK using tips from the Passporter, this board, and other sites. i think we can hit fantasyland (which has the bulk of what we want to do) and possibly frontierland before lunch. then eat, nap, and return to do the other lands, dinner, and see the parade and fireworks. (PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I AM DREAMING ON THIS!?! we are going june 13-19 :confused3 )
if all else fails, we have 5 park days, and can go back possibly on a 1/2 day to see what we missed. it is so hard not to want to cram everything in!:yay:
i see the point behind moving the ADR to later, but i would hate to get into the park and try to drag the boys out. it could be quite a scene! you want to talk about something not living up to MK! i doubt Chef Mickey's could! :rotfl2:
thanks for the help!
