Hi,

We will be staying at FW for the first time the week of 8/21-8/28 and I have a few questions. I have reserved a preferred site because we will be traveling in our new motorhome but I need to know if there is a particular loop that I should request. I would like to be close to the transportation as well as the pool and playground area. Any suggestions?

I also want to know if we should reserve a golf cart or not. It seems really expensive but we are traveling with my parents who won't be able to walk far on a regular basis. Is there internal transportation for the campground or are the bus stops only for the busses that go to the parks?

Last, I am interested in anyone else's experiences camping at the end of August. I am a little concerned about the weather but schedule-wise it is the only time of year that works for us. Are the parks really crowded at this time of year?:earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :Pinkbounc

I can only comment on one thing that you asked.

Ft Wilderness does have an internal bus system. There are bus stops convenient for all the loops ... you would ride a bus to either to the Settlement or the Outpost and transfer to another bus to go to one of the parks, Ticket & Transportation Center, etc.

Not knowing what the particulars are on your parents, but I would think they would be okay with the buses. In the parks is going to be a whole other matter because you walk LOTS and LOTS!! LOL!!

I was in Orlando in late August one year (not camping that year) and it was 95 degrees with HIGH-humidity. You might want to bring some spray bottles/fans!!! Your parents, especially, will want A/C.

In late August it will be hot and wet with the regular short afternoon thunder showers. It is also getting very close to peak hurricane season. (But I would not sweat that) The good news is the crowds thin out pretty good in late August. If you are planing any down days for just hanging around the campground (and you should) I would rent a golf cart for at least one of those days. They are very expensive but a lot of fun and very handy. I would reserve it now for your down day through the end of your trip and if you do not want to keep it just turn it in early and you only need pay for the days you used it. Don't count on being able to just walk up and get a cart when you want. Some days you can but others you will be stuck in a line waiting to see if anyone is turning one in. The 1400 loop is right next to the pool, campfire/movie and playground area. All loops are near the internal bus transportation.

We have stayed in all of the preferred loops at least once. I like the 1400 because of the location to the pool, store, and campfire program. The middle of loop 100 was great because we had a very short walk to the store and marina.

First, the weather in August is hot. But it rains most afternoons for 15 to 60 minutes, then the sun comes out again. I would rent a golf cart, you will be surprised how often you use them and how convenient they are. There are local companies you can use, they are much cheaper than Disney and definitely worth the effort, although it is very easy to set up. I used a company called Custom Carriages in Orlando. The cart was very nice and looked just like the ones Disney rented.

Thanks, I think I will look into renting the cart. If nothing else, it will be fun to have. Other than the Hoop De Doo Revue do you recommend reserving any other activities ahead of time?
