This June will be our first time staying at the AKL. When we told our kids (princess: 13 pirate: 9) that we had a savanah view they did the biggest Disney dance in the kitchen:dance3: , so now we need to hear any tips on what is the best floor to view the animals and any other good info about the resort. Thanks and Happy New Year to allparty:

It's been a while since we stayed there. I remember at that time that you wanted the 2nd or 3rd floor. High enough to see across the Savannah but not too high that the canopy (tree Limbs) blocked your view.
Have a great time.

I believe that the DVC rooms are only on the 5th and 6th floors. We stayed there in Nov on the 5th. We had a great view we were on the Zebra trail it was the only trail open at that time. It was wonderful. I do agree that a lower floor would offer a closer view of the animals, but we had no complaints with the animals just under our balcony.

THe resort has all kinds of activities for the kids all day long they start at 9:30am and run until about 10:00pm. DO try to do all of the bead activities. My kids 5 and 1 loved them and they were the youngest there. The older kids enyoyed them also and actually learned from them.

Enjoy the resort and do not miss BOMA.

Go to the African storytelling at the fire pit outside at least once. We went in Oct and my son loved it !! Afterwards they did a parade and he got a magical moments certificate. It was definitely a highlight of the trip!
