Our drier died a few months ago and now the washing machine has come out in sympathy!

When DW tried to use it the fuse blew and the door wouldn't open!

Had the local repair man round and he's wrote it off! Looks like the drum had slipped and bashed into the heating element at the bottom of the tank. Breaking the element and so shorting it out. There's also a nasty dent in the drum!

The nice repair man is getting us a re-con. to keep us going in the short term until we can go out and look for a new one.

Oh no. This reminds me of all my trouble a couple of years ago. Our washing machine was on it's last legs and we decided that while we were buying a new one, we would also get a new tumble drier as that was pretty old too. We had just had a new kitchen installed with a new dishwasher so it seemed a good idea to get matching washer and tumble drier too. Ordered them from a local shop, got a good price and they were delivered within a few days..... was well pleased. But not for long...............

The washing machine broke down within a few days, (nearly flooded kitchen)and the tumble drier made a hideous racket and also I think something was wrong with the temperature thermostat as it got way too hot, you couldn't even touch the outside of the machine !

To cut a long story short we ended up getting 4 more washing machines and 2 more tumble driers before we were satisfied, the customer service was awful and it was a bit of a nightmare organising someone to be at home for the collections and deliveries (for some strange reason they couldn't collect one and drop off a new one at the same time). All this time I was having to travel to my fathers house (4 miles away) to wash and dry our clothes, which wasn't easy as I work full time.

They offered no apologies for our inconvenience and no compensation.

Suffice to say I will never deal with this company again.(If anybody would like to know the name of the company I am happy to tell). :rolleyes1

I've had one of those weeks where everything seems to go wrong, even little things end up making you angry :furious: . Hope you get it sorted soon.

You have my sympathies Tim, went through this a couple of months back until I got a new one. :goodvibes

It's always the bloomin same :sad2: Hope you get it sorted out soon Tim :thumbsup2

What a pain Tim hope you can replace it soon. When ours went at the same time as the video I made the mistake of saying "It never rains but it pours" That night the roof leaked :teeth:

After having had both the washing machine and the dishwasher break down within weeks of one another twice in the space of two years, and having been without a dishwasher all over Christmas one year whilst they kept taking it away to 'repair' it (they never did!), we replaced both with Miele models a couple of years ago. They're supposed to last forever. I think most German brands are pretty good, but Miele (pronounced Mee-luh) are the Rolls Royce of white goods. :teeth:
