So were these developments a surprise to you (at first, at least, if not a surprise now)?DD22 is actually getting tatted as I type this. This is her fourth. Her first she got the day after her 18th birthday.

Maybe this kind of suggests there maybe be a case for taking them on trips to the parlor in the years approaching 18 so that they can become acclimatized to what it entails and so that they don't rush into something they may later regret? All three of my siblings have a tattoo. My mom took them to ensure they went somewhere professional. Two of them were under 18.
I believe there are lots of tattoo parlors in Florida, anyway, aren't there? (in some cities, almost like Las Vegas, right?)I do live in Florida where it's been more lenient than other places
So are your ink plans still active?I'm a very late "inker" I'd like to do it just to check it off my bucket list!
This person has a fetish and people are feeding it.Why do you keep asking if everyone was “surprised” by something? Why do uou care so much what others think
Yeah o can see that. This person has a fetish and people are feeding it.
Well, you're certainly a tattoo veteran now; but I guess you can still empathize a bit with those who at around 18 haven't had any done yet and are still a bit anxious about having it done for the first time. This was 25 years ago. ...I have a masters degree, 19 years clinical experience, and independent licensure in my field. I don’t really think my nose ring or tattoos are a problem for jobs.
For many families it's something that family members can seem to do confidently, kind of all part of becoming an adult, really, when the time comes for each person. The way I was raised was I could get a tattoo if I wanted when I turned 18. All my parents really asked was once I started bringing it up that I pick out something that means a lot and I stick to an area that can be covered for my first. They even offered to help pay for it to ensure we focused on going to a reputable shop. My older brother went out and got one within a week of being 18. I ended up waiting I was maybe 20 when I got my first. Its across my back so I had ZERO issues hiding it when I needed to for jobs and things like that. Over the years around me employers have loosened up and visible tattoos are totally fine. I got my stitch tattoo in my avatar when I turned 28 or so. All of my tattoos I can still easily hide if I need to. My kids will have the same expectations. I want them going to a reputable shop but if they want a tattoo when they turn 18 I am more than happy to be on board with it. My husband is former military and covered in tattoos and had to get a couple cover ups done so there will be plenty of conversation about getting something they won't regret later.
In some families, doing it together is a big, memorable thing, isn't it?I am getting my next one when I hit my goal weight. I told my ODS that he could come with and get one, too. He is almost 17...so, if I buckle down, it could be before he is 18.
So did you have a moment that you remember from when you started to want to be visibly tattooed?I got a tattoo at 40... its not visible, and it marked a milestone in my life for me personally...
I am thinking about getting another one for my 60th birthday, something small... and most likely Disney related... and this one will be visible..
