Ok quick question. I've got my first stay booked with my new AP. The AP isnt activated its just the voucher, but I was able to book using an AP rate. I understand I have to verify that I'm a passholder at check in. Since I'm flying in and taking DME to the resort, I wont be able to activate the pass before going to the hotel. In an ideal world I could show up at the hotel, use my voucher for verification then go to the park for AP activation. So my choices are arrive on DME at the resort, leave my bag with bag check, go to a park or DS, activate the pass, then return to the resort and check into my room. The other choice is DME to resort, bag check, go to the park and activate then officially check in at the end of the day. I guess my question is, am I missing another option or has anyone had anyluck getting into thier room before officially activating an AP.

Yes, the fact that they rarely verify that you have an AP:) I would not do anything special and plan your day with what you want to do.

I agree with the pp not to do anything special and just go about your day and check in when it's convenient for you. My trip this past June was booked with an AP discount with a check in date of 6/10, but my pass expired 6/7. I planned to renew the following day as we arrived very late (2am) so I didn't have a valid AP, but I was never asked for it upon check in. If you check in prior to activating your voucher/AP and the CM asks to see it, you should be given 24 hours to get it activated and return to the front desk to show it. Have a great trip :).

You don't need to go back & forth. They know you won't be activated til visiting a park or GS. You'll just stop by the front desk later to confirm the AP so they don't bump it up to a higher rate.

Im currently here and checked in before I activated my pass after check in and haven't gone back to the front desk. Don't worry, they will know.

In the twenty years we've been staying on property at Disney World, we've never had to activate our AP before check in.
Hope you have a magical time, PurpleHaze!

You just want to be careful they don't bump your rate back up because your AP was not confirmed with the resort. But, totally up to you if you don't want to stop by the front desk again. Just check your bill at check out, you may find you're back at desk having the rate changed anyway. But again, your option.

The front desk/CL CMs are able to see if you have an AP and if it has been activated. All this info is now in MDE. The first thing that pops up is the guests’ name and type of AP. If he activated it, he should be fine.

The first time I used an AP discount I went up to verify I was an AP holder and they looked at me funny lol, now I don't do anything and just go about my day in the parks after I show up and drop my bags. I do online check-in, drop my stuff at bell services (if my room isn't magically ready), and do whatever it is I planned to do no need for a special trip or anything to verify you have an AP. I would activate your AP as soon as you can, but that's only from an entering the parks and merch discount perspective.

The phone reservation person will tell you that you will need to show your AP for confirmation- yet I have NEVER been asked a word about it by any actual cast member at any resort.
