First stay in awhile without heading to parks -Vero?

We are considering booking an Inn room at Vero next spring break. This will be our first time there and first time doing spring break without going to the parks (have been every year for last 7 years).

My concern is if our DD who is 7 will enjoy it. She is shy and doesn't partake in the club activities. Is there enough to do there for a week for kids her age? I am not interested in a split stay with the parks this year and am afraid HH won't be warm enough.

We will be at VB in 3 weeks for 4 nights prior to our cruise for the first time. But we were at HHI two years ago for 4 nights.

I think you should do a spilt stay. This way you can try VB and decide if you would want a future longer visit.

Have you been to HHI before? VB does have mini golf, pool and beach.
HHI has pool, bike rentals, Beach House and mini golf near by.

My boys are older so we are in a different place in terms of activities. They enjoy ping pong, billiards, kayaking, boogie boarding, basketball and bike riding.

If she is willing to do things like ceramic painting with you there, she will be fine. Maybe she will venture out a bit when she sees how accommodating the CMs are in Vero. Spring Break should be a good time to go bike riding.

I think it depends on your family. Could your family go to a Florida Beach for a week and enjoy yourself? If so, this will be perfect. If not, I would not recommend it.

It works great for us but we love just hanging out at the pool and the beach. We could do it for days. To be honest, outside of a few hidden mickey's, a few Disney themed food items/gift shops/etc, it at times doesn't even feel like a disney trip. My kids 6 and 2 love it.

As for your daughter, there is tons of activities however if she is shy, I could see her not wanting to do them. My guess is though you would probably run into that issue where ever you went.

Vero Beach is a fantastic resort! We were just there in early June, where we enjoyed 4 nights. My DD who is also 7, says Vero Beach is her favorite. I think one of the overlooked secrets is fishing in the stocked ponds. Each morning we went to the pond to fish with hotdogs and we caught fish till we were tired. I keep 2 poles in my purple box, but you can purchase them cheaply at almost any of the stores in that area. She also liked the crafts and even did the waterslide race too. We played miniature golf everyday, went to the beach, did the turtle watch, hung around and just relaxed. Oh... and the campfire is great as well! We enjoyed signing the songs and listening to the CMs.

Inn rooms have 2 queen beds as well as the mini fridge and microwave. The studios have 1 queen bed and a pull out sofa and the mini fridge and microwave,

I like to be in the main building, so we usually book an inn room.

We did Vero as a split stay for 4 nights as a wind down after a 3 night WDW stay in aug 2010. A very memorable trip as my father in law stayed as well as our adult niece and her family visited us from her home in Florida. Had a blast but my criticism is the lack of restaurants close by. Other than that REALLY enjoyed it!

My 7 yo daughter and I love VB and HH. I actually bought points at VB because HH can be very variable weather-wise in March (during my Spring Break) but it is warmer there in April and you are more likely to have pool weather than in March. We now alternate spring breaks between the two. Also wanted to mention the spa at VB has mani/pedis for girls if yours would like that.

We decided to spend some time at Vero years ago after being at Wilderness Lodge and doing the parks for 4 days. My youngest celebrated her 6th birthday the day we arrived. Unfortunately for her she had come down with a viral infection the day before so her last day at WL was not a good one. They were great and let us check out late and then after a horribly long drive to Vero (becasue she was sick along the way) we arrived to find the bouquet and balloons I had ordered for her were waiting in our room. Brightened her day. We went for rest & relaxation and both kids loved it. Too cold to really stay on the beach, but at least had a chance to experience it. I don't remember a lot to do there, but again, we were looking to relax. Beautiful resort, friendly staff.
