I called MS yesterday and was able to book 7 months out for 2 studios @ GCV. This will be our first stay at the Villas there. We always stay at GC and love it there, so I am sure we will love the Villas just as much. :cool1:

This will however be the first trip that we will take a day to go to Universal Studios. My kids DD 13, DS 9 have never been there as we can never seem to take a day away from Disney. Any suggestions on "What Not To Miss" there?

Doing the happy dance. :woohoo:..so cant wait to go.

We've been there once, and I really don't want to burst your bubble, but it's no great shakes. I still think you should try it for a day, for it is a nice and easy break from Disney. You will be able to ride all the attractions you want in less than a day.

You cannot miss the Studio Tour, 40 minute tram tour through Universal backlot, because it is unbelievable and great. Also, the new Transformers ride should be open, so see that. Your kids will love Shrek 4-D and the Curious George Water Play Area is fun! If your kids will brave it, Mummy is one of the best coasters. Oh, and the Special Effects Stage is neat, and don't forget about WaterWorld. There are a few other attractions. Check them out at universalstudioshollywood.com.

Plus, have dinner at Universal CityWalk. The Hard Rock Cafe has some great food. I think you'll like it. Have a great trip. Happy Holidays!

Thanks. I've been there before but it's been about 16 years so i know some things have changed and new rides..ect.. I cant wait to get my kids on the tram ride...
Any other suggestions for places to eat there? We dont really like Hard Rock Cafe as it's just too loud for us anymore (we are getting old..lol) Do you have to pay to get into Citywalk?

Well, CityWalk is Universal's equivalent of Downtown Disney. It is the promenade right next to the entrance of the park. It is 100% FREE (they'll get your money through all the stores and restaurants:)).

As for dining CityWalk has a plethora of restaurants. We have never eaten at the Buca di Beppo at CityWalk Hollywood, but the one by us is nice. I have also heard great reviews of Samba Brazilian Steakhouse. Since you will be traveling with kids, Johnny Rocket's could be fun. We are FL Residents and recently took a trip in June to WDW. At DTD, we found Wolfgang Puck to be great! It is my understanding they have one at CityWalk. These are my suggestions for Dinner. If you are in the park for lunch, we enjoyed Mel's Diner. Hope this helps, and you can get more details at citywalkhollywood.com! If you have any other questions, just ask! Happy Holidays!

We always seem to hit BubbaGumps and HRC, usually where the kids like to go and I love HRC just to look at the axes.
