We are checking in July 12th and have one night in a bungalow and 3 nights in a deluxe studio lake view. We locations should we request? First DVC stay as owners and first time staying at the Poly! Thanks.

Because of the bungalows in front of the longhouse, most prefer high floor lake view, but 33% of lake view will be ground floor.

We are arriving for our first stay at the Polynesian on July 11. We didn't spring for the lake view, even though we had the points to do so. I figured that there wouldn't be much happening on the water during these modified operations.

True but we had it booked before we knew nothing would be going on. And to change to a standard view didn’t save to many points.

Don't know if it's still the same, but after getting excited about the water view villa we got about 3 years ago, we were surprised to be woken up each morning by the ferry horn nearby.

That also factored into my decision. The last time we stayed at the GF, we took a walk each morning, through the Polynesian grounds to the TTC and back. We noticed just how close those large ferries are to the DVC buildings.

We are staying at Poly for the first time ever (even pre DVC) this December, I was shocked that there was availability even with Covid at 5 months out. The horn will definitely be happening next to my room - when we stay at VWL we seem to always get by the trash cans!

The Poly used to be the best resort on the planet. They have wrecked it.

If you have to ask, you will not understand.

In my honest opinion the ferry boats aren't as loud as people make them out to be. If you're someone who always leaves 1 2 or 3 star reviews on Yelp! when you go to a restaurant because the waiter was too attentive or because your ice was the wrong size then maybe Lakeview and the horns will bother you. Otherwise, this country boy who lives in the middle of nowhere with no traffic or sound beyond the occasional wild animal never had an issue with the noise. As with most things here though your mileage may vary.

My daughter and I were playing on the beach on the night of the 12th. I think I only saw two families at the bungalows. You may have been one of them. :) We check into the bungalows in Oct. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
