Hi Everyone,

I am starting to plan my first Solo trip to WDW in Late January. I am super excited but also quite apprehensive. I have a couple questions for my fellow solo travelers:

Are the tours worth doing for a solo? I have been looking at Backstage Magic, Keys to the Kingdom, the 2-hour Segway EPCOT tour and possibly something at AK. Is doing Backstage Magic and Keys to the Kingdom overkill? I don't want to spend over $200 to find out I am getting similar tours. Are there any other tours that people can suggest that would be fun for a solo?

Also, what rides have single lines? I am sorry to admit that in my past trips I have never even payed attention - the only one I can think of is Test Track.

Has anyone ever eaten at Teppanyaki in Japan alone? That is my favorite restaurant and I don't want to miss out on it!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Melissa

I would take Backstage Magic over KTTK. I thought that overall it was much more interesting.

As far as Teppenyaki, I have gone there a few times on my own and was seated between groups (not at an edge) and able to join in conversations. The thing is you have to be "aggressive" to join or you will end up ignored by everybody.

I know Everest and Test Track have SR lines. For most of the coasters and ToT you would be in the regular queue and they will sometimes ask for singles or couples to fill in.

quackkatty: Doing the tours is so much fun for a single; when I did a tour two years ago, probably 1/3 of the people on the tour were there solo. I did the KTTW and loved it, but I think you cover most of the same info if you do the Backstage Magic.

I think Mission Space also has a single riders line.

I love doing the backstage tours solo, too! It gives you people to hang out with and talk to for a few hours, plus you learn so much!

KTTK may be overkill if you're already doing backstage magic- have you checked out the tours at DAK? Those are pretty nifty :)

I did the garden tour solo one year and loved it - it was the best tour ever!

The 2 hour segway tour is wonderful. I had more fun and couldn't stop smiling! :teeth: WS was open early the day I took the tour so that make it even more fun, having people around when we were riding there. Don't miss it.

I did the Backstage Safari at AK solo last year. It was really fun! I'm hoping to do the Wild by Design tour solo sometime, but the two tours are usually offered on different days, and it's a matter of the days "lining up".

Back Stage Magic and KTTK are different enough that I enjoyed them both but I would do them on two different trips (you are right, a little overkill on 1 trip). When I did my BSM tour, I was one of only two singles but spent time talking with the guide and others. I also ran into one of the couples coincidentially at MK two nights later and they invited me to spend a few hours with them.

Space Mountain also has single rider line. Listen as you get near the ride on Great Movie ride and Soarin, they are always asking for singles or doubles. Don't be afraid to speak up when they ask for a double to say you are a single...often they will take you,

Just back from my first solo! ;) Would do it again in a heart beat!

Mission Space ride has changed, no more single rider. When you come up to the ride they ask, spinning or no spinning, and they give you a colored card as to which one you picked. Then you go to the according line, Green card on one side, and orange on the other.

I rode Everest 3 times in a row in the single rider line, that about as much as my tummy could take... awesome ride thought! Same thing with Test Track as fast as i could ride, run around and get back into line, i think i rode that 3 times in a row as well.

Have lots of FUN!

Great to hear that you had a good trip!

Did you do any ADR's? I have been making a list and am getting ready to book probably tomorrow or Friday.

Mission Space is a great ride, I wish instead of making a non-spinning version they made an extra spin version hahah!!!!
I hope too that Test Track and Everest have short lines when I'm there, I'm a coaster junkie and could ride til the end of time!

When I went solo in 2003, I did TT 4 times in a row. By the 3rd time the CM was laughing when he saw me coming and the 4th time, just shook his head with a big smile. You got to love flying by all those people in the standby line.

Thanks! Well i made my adrs and changed them about a million times, but everytime i changed i got exactly what i wanted. I would make them as soon as possible to that you know you atleast have something down. Plus when i made Le Cellier, glad i made it early, i had a 5:00 dinner reservation, cause by the time i finished i was was just amazed on how many people were waiting to eat, and especially at all the other restaurant in epcot.

Yea, i agree with you on Mission Space! The only draw back is i wish the preride show wasnt so long!!

Test Track, yes i could ride a million times over! The same happened with me, it got to where we didnt have to watch the preshow, she just let us push the doors open and get in line!! Woo Hoo!!

You will have an awesome time! :)

I am also in the preplanning stages of my first solo trip in late January 2007!! If if works out maybe we can meet sometime!

OMG great thread, I'm sooo glad I found this! I'll be solo for 3 days of my trip in March while DH is working and I was wondering what I'd do. I can't wait to check out prices and times of tours!!!
