First Smartphone, android or iPhone?

I used to be a huge Apple fangirl. I had an iBook, several iPods, and then eventually an iPhone4. I've had my iPhone for 3 years and 5 months. It is starting to get slow and unresponsive... I know it's on its last legs.

Considering that I now run Linux exclusively at home and have an Android tablet (Nexus7), opening up my old laptop just to run iTunes for my iPhone & iPod is a pain in the tush. I no longer live in an Apple "ecosystem" and the iPhone is no longer practical for me.

Within the next couple of months I'll be purchasing a Nexus5 phone to match my Nexus7 tablet. I love the Android look and the way it operates and most importantly that I have a lot more freedom with Android than I do with Apple iOS.

If you have an Apple computer and other Apple products and use iTunes a lot, an iPhone might work for you. Otherwise, I'd go Android.

Not all us 60+ have to ask someone in the room. I think apple products are stuck in a rut. Maybe that's just me.

Android all the way here.

I agree with your assessment of Apple products. I think they are playing catch up. I have a Mac Air and love it, but am surprised that we have not seen a merging of the Air and the iPad. Something like Microsoft's Surface. I think Apple is more than happy to rest on their laurels right now

Iphone- never known anyone to regret an "I" anything. .

;) You should see my FB page, 3 people this week celebrating getting rid of their "I" things for Androids. :dance3:

But to be honest, in the past month I can probably also find 3 friends who celebrated getting rid of their Androids for an "I" thing.

We're pretty evenly split with our company phones between I phones and Androids, and they are pretty evenly split on things that one does better than the other. Only real common denominator is, the audio quality isn't as good on either as the old stupid phones, and of course the battery life sucks for both. Some of our reporters keep a non-smart phone just for when they have to do phone reports on the air, the quality is so much better.

Android. They may have less space, but I much prefer their processers to an Iphone's. They're easier to understand too. :)
