Ok, I'm set up to do my first secret shop. There are 7 goals of my shop visit. I'm stressing that I won't remember all my goals and forget to document stuff that occurred when I get home. I thought about taking notes, but I don't want to tip off the store clerk. Anybody ever do these before? What strategies do you use?

Hey Denise!

I have never done this before, but just wanted to say Good Luck and I hope all goes well!! Let us know how it was when you get back! :)

How do you become a secret shopper and what is the pay, or advantages?

I have done several secret shops and find them easy to complete.
It is amazing what you will retain from the visit.
Just be as detailed as you can.
Don't forget to get a business card and the clerk's name.
You'll be fine.

I don't do them, but a friend of mine does. She rates the place, the bathroom if applicable, and the courteousness of the help. She comments on arrangements of displays, if merchandise is displayed clearly, and if the staff knows their inventory. Usually she finds a place nearby immediately after, and records everything over a cup of coffee. Good luck!

available.

I do the same thing take a note pad and paper and as soon as I leave the shop right down the clerks name(I am terrible with names)then find a place in the mall to sit & had have a coffee and write down every detail I can think of.

Once I did a coffee shop and there was bugs on the floor the windows were filthy and boxes were left on the store floor after delivery.

Just relax and you will be fine.

Have fun

Mal

Thanks for the votes of confidence everyone. Sorry I didn't report back before, but it's been a busy weekend. It went well and I've already submitted my shop. I know what you mean Mal, I signed up over a year ago and this is the first one that was available in my area.

How did you get stared in this? I would LOVE to do this, but the offers I see all require you to send them money. I have always been told never sens money to work for someone! Please let me know how you got started.
