This is my first post.

I have been considering DVC for a short while and am trying to show my DW the benefits of DVC. I am awaiting my informational package from DVC. We would look to buy into VWL with about 160-180 points.

This board is a wealth of information. I would appreciate any hints, suggestions, or encouragement.

Thanks. :)

Hi Pooh&Piglet. Welcome to the DIS boards. Pretty soon we'll be welcoming you to DVC too, I'm sure. :)

Welcome to the boards! You will find a wealth of information here! I had to convince my DH to buy into DVC, but now he looks back and wonders why we didn't do it sooner. Gee, what have I been telling him the past 2-3 years?? Hopefully soon we will be welcoming you into the DVC family.

WDW...Been There, Done That, Going Back!

okay I have been a member since 93 the reasons I joined were

1. My niece was 3 years old, and my nephew was 5. I was going to pay every time they went to WDW and I wanted to save money.

2. I love WDW and have since my first trip in 1972.

3. I know I was going to come back to WDW.

4. I loved OKW (the only DVC at the time).

5. You have this wonderful time until 2042.

6. I also brought into DVC to share with family and friends. They all love it. It is wonderful to be able to give a trip to WDW.

7. I was in college when I brought into the DVC and working full time. When I had time off my brother could not because the kids were in school or baseball. Using DVC he and the kids get to go when they can, and I get to go when I can. In all the years we have only managed to stay there at the same time 3 times.

8. I also really loved the free tickets we got until 12/31/1999. Although because the tickets were free, we probably went to the parks more than we should have. I did not take a day off the whole time. Now I go to the parks once or twice in a 5 to 7 day trips.

I could go on - but you are probably tried - I love WDW, so I love DVC, it is worth it.

hi: welcome to the boards and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

As others have already said, this board can give you lots of valuable info on joining DVC. One of the big reasons that we joined is that it will save you lots of money over the lifetime of the lease! And of course, who could forget the magic of Disney!

The other themes you will hear a lot here are that nearly everyone wishes they would have purchased sooner than they did, and to buy where you most like to stay. If you are familiar with all the resorts, this should be easy. If not, you will get a good idea after you get the info. from Disney. You might want to check out the points calculator to help you make a decision too.

I would just reiterate that you should consider buying at the place you most want to stay. There seems to be a lot of debate going on about being able to switch to another location and being able to get a room for the time that you are interested in. Don't listen to MS when they tell you that the "home resort" doesn't matter. Because it seems to matter 150%.
