Add another Connecticut family to the DVC rolls!

I've been visiting the boards for a year or so. You guys are all great. I knew everything before I ever called to begin the DVC purchase process.

Our first trip to VWL is coming up soon... and we have a couple of questions we thought someone would be able to answer.

1. Has anybody made the walk from VWL to FW campfire? We have a 7yo... too far for her?

2. I've read that boat service to MK can be slow at times. If we decide to go to TTC to catch the monorail, should we drive, or take the bus?

Thanks guys!

WELCOME HOME!!!

I can't answer your questions but just wanted to welcome you. You will enjoy your DVC immensely :)

Good to see more people from Connecticut!

I have not made the walk to FW, but to answer your second Q, I would still take the boat.

Good Luck, and WELCOME TO THE DIS!

Welcome home!!! We also own at VWL and we really like the boat transportation. It can be slow at times, but I find it more relaxing than the bus. You can take the boat over to FW if you don't want to walk (at least you could last time we were there). The way I look at it is that it isn't any further than walking around the parks. :) If you are tired after, take the boat. :)

Hope you have a great time going "home"!!

We also own at VWL and were there in May- We took a boat to FW Hoop-te-Doo review- the walk seems pretty far. Boat service to MK was excellent, but May is generally a little less crowded. WELCOME HOME!!!

I can not answer your first question but I can answer your 2nd question -- I think you should take the boat since it's a real nice way to get there but if you decide to take the bus it will drop you off at the Magic Kingdom NOT the TTC so it's much better than driving and leaving your car at the TTC and then take the monorail. VWL is so close to MK that the boat is the best way IMO.

Congratulations and welcome home!!!!!

1. Never made the walk to FW. It is approx a mile and most say it is an okay walk (or bike ride) in daylight, but advise not to do it at night.

Also...Check the boat and bus route between the VWL and FW.

2. We always use the boat to MK or the Contemporary resort.

ralphd:) :) :) :) :)

We took the walk many times over to FW. We have 3 children ages 11, 8 and 2 at the time. We would put the 2 year old in his stroller. It was a beautiful walk. It took about 15 minutes at the most. Our 2 year old fell in love with the ponies at the stable and cannot wait to go back next winter. I also would not advise walking it at night. I do not believe there are any lights at all. FWIW we also saw a snake one day while walking. I am not a big snake lover, so I kept my distance until he was done crossing the path! It was a reddish snake with a pattern on it. We never really found out what it was, but did get a nice picture. People from both directions just waited until he was done crossing and then continued on. We also took a surrey bike on the path one day. That was a lot of fun also!

As for the pathway, check out my previous post. This is one of the paths I did in my series of pathways. Be sure to look at the slide show.

The path is NOT lit and could be quite dark at night. You might walk the path over in the daylight, and take the boat back that evening. (When everyone's a little tired anyway).

Whether you take the pathway or the boat, remember you will still have to walk a little bit to get to the campfire, so keep that in mind also.

Have a great trip.

CONGRATULATIONS!

We have taken the walk to FW from WL, and it is not far. It is, however, fairly dark, so be sure to take a flashlight along. We loved the walkway, but then we like the walkway to DTD from OKW too.

WELCOME HOME

I agree with everyone else about the boat. Take the boat. It is so relaxing. It may take a few extra minutes, sometimes, but no longer than walking to your car, driving to TTC, taking shuttle to front of lot, walking to Monorail, riding to MK and then walking in,

PHEW

Maybe try walking to the campfire and riding boat back. Best of both worlds.

Steve

Wow!

Thanks to everyone for the good advice. Sounds like the boat is the way to go. Thanks especially to Caskbill for the "pictoral guide" to the FW trail. We might walk over, and then take the boat back to WLV as some have suggested.
