Testing how to type in the field

Want to be able to start live report on Thursday but i can barely type. Looks like the learning curve is gonna be a doozy!

If you've got a Droid X, I believe it comes with the Swype virtual keyboard, but you might need to enable it. It makes virtkey input a LOT faster. Not sure about the Droid 2. I have it on my original Droid due to the open beta but I believe they closed it.

Thank you for the tip. I can't find anything about Swype anywhere on my phone or on the Motorola web site. It has been a very long day of learning, and I will definitely try again with less fatigued eyes tomorrow! I don't know if I'm using Swype, or even what it is. My screen feels extremely Swypish, though LOL!...Remember when the user manual use to come in the box?

I can't figure out how to copy and paste a link. Trying to post photos from photobucket here, but my pics keep ending up on my facebook page again and again. Any tips? The good news is that I have been able to get the photos from my phone to photobucket, so half the battle is won.

The clock is a-tickin' and I need to start a-packin', but this is way more fun!

TIA!

Swype allows you to drag your finger around the keyboard instead of pecking at it. It is fairly intelligent at determining the letters you most likely meant, and if it could have been one of several words it will pop them up and ask you which. And if the word you are typing is unusual, you can peck it in as normal and add it to the dictionary.

Here is the web site...there are some how-to videos:

As for posting pictures via the phone here, you'd probably have to do it just like you would on a desktop web browser - enter the URL by hand (or cut and paste if you are lucky...)

From what you describe, I believe I do have Swype already running. It lets me pick from a list of words as I type, it even recognizes the word if I get the first letter wrong. It still takes some adjusting to, though! It will take a while before I get up to the speed of an actual keyboard.

Oh, and DUH! type the URL in!!! I'm so used to copy and paste, it never would have occured to me to type it out...I think it's time for me to go to bed!

Don't get excited! This one done the old-fashioned way, on my computer.

This is my cat, Stitchy

OK, in the above 2 posts, the link looks EXACTLY the same. I checked and quadruple checked. Why does the one I did on the computer work, and the one on my phone doesn't?

I couldn't tell you the difference, as I can't see what the link in your posts that are broken were...but a single typo could cause it.

Yes it was a typo on that last one. I missed a character. Unless i get much better at this its not gonna be worth it though. There has to be an easier way!

Thanks for your help.

Oh my goodness. So much work to type in those links, with all those different kinds of characters! There must be an easier way. Welcoming hints still! THANKS!

Try dictating your email. Click on the microphone when the keyboard is active. Speak slowly and deliberately. I've dictated many emails on my HTC Incredible and it is remarkably accurate. You may need to go in and make a few minor edits, otherwise it's WAY faster than any keyboard, even Swype.
