I am torn this time as to where to have our first dinner. Usually we stay at the Poly and go to Kona jusdt because it is easy and one of our favorites. This time, we are arriving a little later in the day, and staying at Shades of Green. I have a feeling the kids might be a little tired (and we aren't going into the parks)- any ideas what to try to kick it off this time?

Are you driving in or flying? The Poly isn't far from Shades of Green...you could still go to Kona if that is one of your favorites:confused3

This may be too much activity if your kids are really tired but our first night we always do HDDR! We usually don't do any parks on the day we arrive so we enhance the mood for the parks and kick off the vacation with HDDR.

What about looking at DTD for the first meal? That's what we have done in the past.
Good luck
Have a great trip

Would they like California Grill? It's where we always eat our first night.

Thanks all- we actually have a CG reservation for another night we are there- i wanted to kind of keep us to bed early since we have crystal palace at 8am the next morning.
DTD is a good idea, wonder how crowded it will be on a sat night. As for going to the Poly and Kona- we could do it, just not sure if everyone is up for sitdown on the first day of travel.

DTD is usually more crowded on Saturdays.
I would suggest someplace like Wolfgang Pucks Express. It is a CS but it feels like a TS. It is a sit down place but not a "real" sit down dinner that takes hours.
We really like the food there too, which is a definite plus...:thumbsup2

Depends on the weather, time of day, kids' interests, etc - but what about eating on the road on your way in? Then after you check in, drive over to one of the miniature golf courses, play, cap the evening off with a big ice cream cone, and call it a night? Both of the mini golf courses have neat theming. It would be "vacation-y" but not overly stimulating, so the whole family could go back to the room for an early bedtime.
