Background, two couples, five kids, ages 1, 3, 6, 7 and 10, and two grandparents. Last time we went we did first night dinner at Ohanas, we loved it. This time I want to do something that the kids will enjoy a little bit more. I didn't want to use a park pass the first night, so I am thinking either, Chef Mickey's or the 1900 Park Fare character dinner. I would like to be able to see the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom after dinner. Which is better for viewing?

I have not viewed the fireworks from either but I have heard chef Mickey's would be the place. Plus, Chef Mickey's is our favorite.;)

Between the two you mentioned, I would definately go with 1900 Park Faire. The entertainment-Wicked Stepsisters and Lady Tremaine with Cinderella & Prince Charming. Their antics are supposed to be hilarious!!! You can also catch a great view of Wishes from the GF beach. IMO, this would be a great way to kick off your WDW festivities! :goodvibes

I've done Chef Mickeys and it's fun, but it's not as unique as 1900 Park Faire. You will see the CM characters a million times at the parks & such throughout your trip.

Also, the 1900 Park Faire characters will appeal to all of your kids ages and even the grandparents!

Are the kids boys or girls? If all girls, I'd do 1900 PF. If it's a mix of boys and girls I think Chef Mickey's would have wider appeal.
