We almost always go to Ohana on our first night - with the view of the castle it always makes us feel 'magical' and realize we're at Disney (since we don't usually go to a park the first day). Then we get on the monorail and go around to the different resorts. But I think this may be the first time that we are arriving on a day when there's no fireworks at the MK. Can anyone tell me (I can't recall) if the castle is all lit up even on non-firework evenings? I'm thinking it must be, but just wanted to check.

Yes, the Castle will be illuminated. You will still have a beautiful view, even with the park being closed.

when is the electric water pageant? And do they have it every night or just when there is also fireworks?

They do it every night, weather permitting.
Not sure on the exact time. I think it depends on when it gets dark.
It goes by the Poly, GF, CR and WL.
I would check with the resort to see if they know the schedule.

This is usually the schedule for the EWP:

Polynesian Resort -- 9:00pm
Grand Floridian -- 9:15pm
Wilderness Lodge -- 9:35pm
Fort Wilderness -- 9:45pm
Contemporary Resort -- 10:05pm

I love watching the Castle change colors from the dinner table at 'Ohana's!

Have fun!
