This is our fist message - maybe it is in the wrong space, but let us know! We are heading down to WDW on 4/25, flying in this time so taking advantage of the Disney shuttle to CBR - our question is this: last year we drove down so had use of our own car. We used it to make a run to Publix first to fill up on breakfast/snack things. The car never moved again until we left for home at the end of our 10 days! Our dilema this year is because we won't really have need of a car, we won't be renting. We are on the Dining Plan but are curious if anyone has any tips on handling the in-room munchies we'll be experiencing. In other words, Are we simply at the mercy of WDW prices for everything? Should we consider a taxi or other shuttle service that might be willing to swing by Publix on the way from the airport to CBR? Your thoughts on the subjet will be appreciated. And thanks!

if you are looking for transportation to and from the airport check mousesavers.com they list some tranportation companies that include a grocery store stop at no charge that way you could load up on munchies at a more reasonable price. i've also read some comments on sending packages via ups to your resort containing snacks & such.

Thanks so much! My hubby is saying also that some grocers deliver to WDW? Any ideas on that or cost of that service??

I'm going to move this to TP&S Board for you, Ithink you will get some great replys there. Danny

Garden grocer is one company we checked into. You need a $50 order & I believe it costs $10 dollars. I checked online & really could not come up with $50. We are using Sunray Limo to take us to our hotel and they have a free
grocery stop. We are only looking to buy some breakfast items & water. :cool1:

put some munchies in your suitcase. After you eat them, you'll have room to take the suvies home!!!

Welcome to the Dis Boards!! And congratulations on your trip.

What I have seen a lot of other Dis'ers suggest is filling a box with some munchies like, cheetos, chips, cookies, kool-aid packets, etc and mailing it to your hotel marked "hold for guest" it seems to work out very well.

Hope this helps. :thumbsup2

Yeah, I too was going to suggest packing a carry-on with snacks - and then you can fill it with your souveniers on the way home!

Maybe it's just the way you're explaining it ... I'm trying to fathom what you're saying. Are you saying you WERE going to take the free Disney's Magical Express (DME) from the airport to your resort and get a grocery delivery, but since you won't make the $50 minimum for your delivery you're instead going to pay $120 for a towncar so you can get a "free" grocery stop? Please tell me I'm wrong here. If I'm right, you're deciding not to "waste" say $30 for groceries you don't really need (assuming you'd spend $20 of the $50 delivery minimum) and instead are willing to pay $120 in order to save that $30. I just hope I'm being thick here ....

if you're just looking for snack-like non-perishables for only 2 people, putting those foods in a carry-on is definitely the way to go.

If you're looking for things that need refrigeration, I can suggest Gooding's to you (www.goodings.com). The thing I liked best about their delivery service is that you don't need to schedule your delivery time and you don't need to wait around your room and be there for the delivery (instead of getting out and having a fun beginning to your vacation). Gooding's delivers to Bell Services, then it's up to Bell Services to deliver it to you. If you're not in, they hold onto the groceries for you and even keep the cold stuff cold; they leave a message for you and they wait until you call to tell them you're in and you'd like your groceries now, please.

I don't often get rental cars when I travel for leisure, unless the vacation itself entails traveling from one place to another. But when I have gotten rentals, I would have LOVED to have a place like Gooding's to deliver groceries to me, rather than having to take time away from the start of my vacation traipsing around a strange supermarket and waiting in line, then checking into the hotel with not only my luggage but other packages as well. The thing that sold me on Gooding's is the not-having-to-wait-around-for-the-delivery-in-your-room thing. Other people on this board swear by stand-alone delivery services (they are not a store -- they shop wherever you want them to) such as www.wegoshop.com and www.gardengrocer.com, but I haven't heard that they have the same convenient delivery policy as Gooding's does. If they do have that same method, that you don't need to be present for or wait around for your delivery, then I think I might prefer them because, from what I've heard, Gooding's is the most expensive supermarket in the area. You can have the stand-alone delivery services go to a cheaper market.

You have lots of options. Good luck, and have fun!

Welcome to the DISboards! I agree about packing a few light items in your carry on. Then you can pack souvenirs when you go back. Reading this thread really makes me remember why we like driving down. We pack the car with snacks on the way down, then we have the space on the way back for souvenirs. It does make it convenient haveing snacks in the room.

I will have to say though, that if you end up with no way to buy snacks that you can get some resort mugs for unlimted refils on drinks (not bottled water) but sodas, etc.

We've been deliberating over this since we booked our vacation and have decided we would pack things with us and have more room for souvenirs on our return trip.

We found someone who suggested a grocery delivery service - checked it out & found out can have deliver to WDW for under $20! What a deal! We saved oodles by eating breakfast in our room most days. LOVE THE SITE! But how do I get the countdown going??
