I called MS this morning (using the 800 number) and made our 1st priority seating for our first trip home as new DVC members.

We'll be staying at BCV 90 days from now and eating at the Cape May Cafe the first evening. I think there is even a 10% discount.

I have eaten at Cape May before myself, but this will be the first time for the rest of the family. Any other recommendations for PS at other DVC resort restaurants?

We're a family of 6 (2 girls 11 and 2 boys 14) and not going into the WDW theme parks this trip (doing Universal), so looking for resort and Downtown Disney\Boardwalk restaurant ideas only.

I am considering:

Whispering Canyon Cafe @ VWL

Olivia's @ OKW

Any recommendations for those 2 or any others I overlooked?

Thanks,
Rex

We love the family-style dinner at Ohana's...food is terrific and you can see the fireworks at MK from there. I don't remember the cost per person, but you can find out when you make your PS reservation. They also have some activities for the kids....coconut roll and hula hooping. Have fun!
Haven't explored too many places at DD; Wolfgang Puck has good food, but we've only used their express cafe so far.
We ate at Olivia's about 2 years ago....wasn't our favorite, but we were there close to closing and I think our waitress really wanted to get the heck out of there. OKW is so nice that I would definitely try Olivia's again....but just not so close to closing time.

... I'd try out Artist Point at WL. It's very attractive and has a gorgeous view of the WL grounds at night (I'd try to get a table near the window!). Obviously, this would be more expensive than Whispering Canyon Cafe, but a lot more upscale and relaxing -- and the food is quite good, as well! Whispering Canyon is a bit too chaotic for me -- and also seems geared towards the younger (i.e. under-10 set)...

Also on the pricey side but very good is Flying Fish over at Boardwalk. It has a fun, vibrant atmosphere that your kids would like and a nice selection of appetizers and entrees. I've never eaten at the other restaurants on the Boardwalk, but have also heard good things about Spoodles... They used to offer a breakfast buffet (not sure if they still have that or not) and have a great tapas selection for dinner, from what friends have told me.

You should also consider dining at the Swan/Dolphin. When we were at BCV last year we tried Palio at the Swan. It was fabulous, IMO. They even have a strolling musician, which my kids enjoyed... I would definitely make ressies for this restaurant (As I recall, I booked thru the S/D website, not Disney).

As far as places outside the Epcot area, I'd highly recommend California Grill at the top of the Contemporary. The view of the
MK fireworks is wonderful and the food is to die for!!! This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Orlando. It is very pricey, though, so beware!!!!! :)

If you need any additional suggestions, don't hesistate to ask!

Happy planning,
Sarah

Walk over to Spoodles on the Boardwalk. Salmon was quite good last trip, though kids Pizza was disappointing.

Your might want to consider going to the Dolphin Fountain @ the Dolphin. It's set up like a little 50's diner. You can even go just for dessert one night and get the Dolphin Splash. It's very similar to the Kitchen Sink dessert @ Beaches'N'Cream but @ $11.50, a lot cheaper. Here's a link to their menu:

I agree with wdwphanatic. Artist Point and Flying Fish are two of my family's favorites. Since you plan on visiting Universal, I would also recommend Mythos at Islands of Adventure. We have had some really terrific meals at Mythos.

Here's another thumbs up for: O'Hana, Flying Fish, Artist Point and Cal Grill. We eat at them all on a regular basis and love each one of them. Great food and wonderful atmospheres at all of them. Jiko, Yachtsmen Steakhouse, Fultons and House of Blues are also some of our favorite non park restaurants.

Have you thought about any of the dinner/shows? The luau is at the Polynesian....Spirit of Oloha, I think. The Hoopty Doo Review (sorry if I spelled it wrong) is at/near the Wilderness Lodge
We did both of those a number of years ago and our whole family loved it. Mickey's BBQ is one we haven't done, but I would guess is just as good.

I guess I was thinking to save some of the more upscale places like Artist's Point and Calf. Grill for a Parent's only weekend trip.

I did want to try somewhere at the Boardwalk Resort and I did read that Spoodles has or had a breakfast. We still have some very picky eaters & my wife would say that I am still one of them.

Yes, we did take the whole gang to all three of the Disney Resort Dinner shows on our trip 2 years ago. We did the Hoop-Dee-Do, Polynesian Luau (Old show), and the Mickey's Backyard BBQ all in one week. We had the front row center table at the Luau and my son was the star of the show. One of the male fire dancers tossed his spear and it fell off the front of the stage. My son on his own jumped up and set it on the edge of the stage like the other dancers spears were. After that they kept throwing them off, this time itentionally, so he could run after them all night long.

Thanks again for all of your very good ideas for our dinners out.

With the ages of your kids, I would suggest the ESPN Club especially if they like sports. We really like their pulled pork sandwich. Also, a morning walk to the Boardwalk Bakery is a must for us at least once every time we stay at BCV. And, if you like buffets, we think Boma's at AKL is fun and has good food. There is such a wide variety, even picky eaters usually find something they like. Its also nice to go over a little early and go outside to view the animals.

One of the nicest things about WDW is the wide variety of restaurants.

Enjoy!

Donna

We love the wings at the ESPN Club on the BW. Wings and beer...I can tasye them now!

We also like Beaches and Cream...nice casual spot ot eat and a fun atmosphere.

Palio is good, but a little pricey.

Ohanas at the Poly is a good value. All oyu can eat, and very tasty. They also do some games and stuff for the younger kids during dinner(roll the coconut witht he broom and stuff like that) which are fun to watch.

Yachtsmen Steakhouse has excellent steaks, but is a little pricey.
Worth it, by all means, but just so oyu know.

Palio at the Swan/Dolphin is good too, also a tad pricey.
